Future150 National Analyst. Covering High and Middle School basketball.

Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- Once again Future150 welcomed talents from California to D.C. for an Invite Only camp.  The Elite 24 Game was opened up to 30 players to accommodate the deep Summit Camp.  These are the top performers from the enthralling weekend.

Keyshawn Embery, 2018 SG, Oklahoma: The biggest epiphany of The Summit had to be Embery.  Instructors were buzzing about his play all weekend.  At least four people nominated him to the All-Star game.  During the All-Star game, Embery was asked to ‘do something special.’  Three seconds later he caught the ball in the corner, threw the ball behind his back, and slashed baseline, dunking on two heads in the process.  Watch out for Embery.  His stock is soaring.  Embery makes his debut at #63 in the Future150 rankings.

Deion Dobbins, 2017 SF, Arkansas:  Dobbins is another frequent Future150 camper.  His appearance always brings a smile to the faces of the staff.  At first glance he appears to be a leaper.  There is so much more to his game that deserves notice.  The wing defends at an elite level.  He rebounds with heart.  His outside shot is much improved and he slashes without interruption.  Also, Dobbins is loved by his teammates.  This is a quality often overlooked by evaluators.

Jon Matthews, 2018 PG, Oklahoma: Matthews has both lead guard capabilities and an excellent shooting touch.  Opponents struggled to pick a poison with Matthews.  He can shoot or pass with equal effectiveness.  He had players on skates all weekend long and was able to get anywhere on the court he chose.  He has to get better on defense if he wants to play D1 basketball.

Noah Cunningham, 2017 PG, Kentucky: Cunningham was noted for his consistent play.  Shots were falling every game.  He excelled as a shooting guard, but skillfully ran an offense in the All-Star Game.  Cunningham is exceedingly coachable and skilled at shooting from any point on the floor.

Josh Helton, 2017 PF, North Carolina: Helton brought with him a lovely baby hook.  His wonderful soft touch is made for the halfcourt game.  Mid-range shooting is an area Helton excels, but too often guards failed to feed him away from the basket.  A lot of subconscious stereotyping against tall shooters takes place in the minds of guards.  When Helton was able to get a touch 15' away he shot pretty well.  Helton's height and footwork make him the kind of player that can really develop in the coming years.  College basketball seems extremely likely for Helton.  The level he reaches will depend on expanding his rebounding zone defensively.

Coulter Dotson, 2018 SF, Tennessee: Perhaps no player has grown more in the last year than Dotson.  Every camp he attends he shows a new move, a new refined skill.  This camp Dotson unveiled an NBA-level step-back three pointer.  How can any high school guard defend a 6’5” shooter who pounces two yards diagonally backward as he releases.  It is nearly as unguardable as Jordan’s fadeaway.  This winter was very helpful for Dotson.  He clearly understands how and where to get his shots from.  The trajectory is remarkable and the ceiling is scary high.

Tevin Brown, 2017 SG, Alabama: Brown is an exciting southern Alabama player.  Loyal to his AAU program, Brown typically destroys players from any state touching the Gulf of Mexico.  The guard can shoot over defenders easily.  He plays above the rim and was one of the better shooters we saw over the weekend.  More SEC schools need to aggressively pursue this budding star.

Joseph Lanzi, 2017 SG, Alabama: To achieve his basketball dreams Lanzi will always be limited by his athleticism.  In the last year the off guard has matured physically.  His upper body is a little stronger and this makes a big difference.  Before he would have the quickness to break by a defender, but he would lack the strength to continue along his path.  Handling contact even better and defending the wing are the next hurdles for Lanzi to tackle.

Kaiden Rice, 2017 SG, South Carolina: Rice will be a college player.  Like Minaya, Rice shoots very well.  He can go missing for stretches if he isn’t hunting the ball.  AAU and camps are tough places to show off because you are surrounded by peers attempting to show off.  When Rice becomes more assertive he will reap the benefits immediately.  Outside shooting is his best skill.

Greg Williams, 2018 PG, Louisiana: Williams was the most consistent player we saw all weekend long.  He can score on all 3-levels and makes it look easy while doing it.  The one thing he did extremely well this past weekend was shoot the 3-ball.  Of the wonderful Louisiana players on hand, Williams is the most explosive.  He vaults into the sky to either score or tug down offensive rebounds.  Players like him compete a foot higher than the competition.  His play over the weekend gives him MVP honors for the Summit Camp.

Justin Minaya, 2017 SG, New Jersey: Tall, elegant shooters find college homes.  They don’t even have to be athletic.  Fortunately, Minaya is more than a great shooter, but his shooting alone is enough to land him an offer.  The lefty easily earned his way onto the All-Star ballot Saturday afternoon.  It didn’t take another day of evaluating to make the determination.

Kobe Julien, 2018 SF, Louisiana: The Summit Camp took place in two adjoining gyms.  Saturday Julien was the best player in the second gym.  He can score every way imaginable.  Julien is not dazzlingly quick, but he gets by his man with ease.  The long strides and smooth handle escort the strong wing to the tin.  He likes to shoot too.  Julien has an amazing array of physical gifts.  The skills are quite advanced from a sophomore-to-be.

Josh Leblanc, 2018 SF, Louisiana: If you are noticing an abundance of All-Stars from Louisiana, then there is a reason for it.  Louisiana Elite brought four players and each easily earned his own way onto the All-Star squad.  Including Leblanc they probably had two of the top three players in the building.  Leblanc has the skills of a young Shareef Abdur-Rahim.  He is 6’7” with the lateral mobility of 6’1” talent.  Currently listed at a small forward, Leblanc could be special at 2-5.  If he has a weakness it rarely showed Sunday.  Maybe he could invest more defensively, but few opponents even attacked the imposing wing.

Roderick Smith, 2018 PF, Mississippi:  The power of Roderick is staggering.  His big body at 230 pounds, Smith reminds of a young Jared Sullinger.  Standing 6-foot-6 inches, he loves to handle out high or dive down low.  The truest test of his ceiling will be how he develops his back-to-the-basket feet.  Judging by his athleticism and toughness mastering the post game should be an easy task.  Look for him to make his debut in the national rankings next update.

Trey Jackson, 2018 PG, North Carolina: Jackson is very active.  He scores from deep and loves to challenge in the lane.  Though Jackson is a dynamic passer he needs to figure out how to set up and encourage his big men.  Too often bigs don’t even establish position during AAU season.  Jackson will be playing with more accomplished bigs as he advances in his career.  This is the small kind of improvement that can separate him from equally talented peers.

Troy Stephens, 2018 PG, Georgia: Stephens is simply a volume scorer.  He is hungry.  Go, go, go.  He is more of a shooting guard than point guard at this stage.  Pulling up from 12’-20’ looks routine when Troy tries it.

Kobe McClain, 2017 C, Alabama: McClain’s abilities were dormant Saturday morning.  When he started to call for the ball his presence picked up.  The center knows how to establish on the low blocks.  He has decent touch with the baby hook.  He should keep refining the left hand finish.  Sunday was a good showing for McClain.

Kaleb Mack, 2018 SF, Alabama: Mack has participated in several Future150 events, so his evaluation continues to evolve with each appearance.  Over the course of the last year Mack has grown taller, while developing more agility.  He keeps getting better and better footwork for his face-up game.  Mack has the strength, but perhaps not the height to project as a power forward.  While once his position appeared fixated it is now wide open.  As an evaluator you always love to witness maturation firsthand.  Mack is a prime example of this growth every player hopes to enjoy.

Jalen Redmond, 2018 PF, Oklahoma: Redmond is a force of nature.  He has linebacker power and the elegance of a deer.  A touch short for a college pivot, Redmond will find a way on the floor.  He scores easily in transition and no teenager can dissuade the hulk from getting deep into blocks.  Most physical forwards lack the motor of Redmond.

David Ivy, 2017 SF, Tennessee: Ivy has ambitions of competing as a small forward.  For that to happen he has to get better from behind the three point line.  His handle is good enough and his defensive feet are fine.  He just doesn’t have a reliable outside shot at this point in his development.  Defensively, he excels under the rim.  He rebounds better on the defensive end.  Ivy generally plays on winning teams.  This is rarely an accident and probably not a coincidence.

Justin Rumph, 2017 PF, Alabama: Rumph has great size for the wing position.  If he grows more he could be a stretch four man due to he shoots the ball well from 15-feet.  The one word that best describes his game would be "Power".  You don't want to get in his way when he is attacking the rim.  Definitely one of the more intense players in the gym.  If you don't think aggression will get you looks you are dead wrong.

Mac Hunt, 2018 SG, Tennessee: Hunt played fundamental ball.  The wing moves well and uses his height to crash the boards.  He can defend anyone from shooting guard to center right now.  His preferred position will be small forward, but he also excels on the football field.  Hunt's toughness from football carries over onto the basketball court.  Scrappy and skilled.

KaVonte Ivery, 2018 SF, Georgia: Ivery is long, wiry and a smooth lefy with a ton of skill.  He is athletic enough to finish above the rim as well as shoot jumpers over his defenders.  He showed that he can guard multiple positions and loves shooting 3's in transition.  His best attribute might be his length.  He was definitely one of the better defenders in the camp.  Kinda reminds us of Ed O'Bannon of UCLA back in the day.

Jalen Hillery, 2017 SG, Georgia: Hillery is big bodied combo forward who like to play outside the lane more than he does in the post.  He showed a nice jumper which stretched to the 3-point line. At times he took smaller players to low post and used his size and skill to score at will.  As he gets in better condition, look for his game to make the next jump.  You gotta love a skilled big man who reminds you of Zac Randolph of Memphis Grizzlies.

Devonte Gordon, 2018 PF, Washington D.C.: Gordon is an intriguing prospect.  He moves his 230-pound body around the court surprisingly well.  Look for him to be a top target in a couple years because his feet dance so fluidly.  Gordon has been well coached too, as evidenced by his catch high-finish high technique.

Ben Topp, 2017 PF, North Carolina: Topp is a fundamental wing who knows how to play the game.  He has good instincts, shoots it well from 15-feet and can take smaller players in the post.  He is a good rebounder especially on the defensive end.  Very coachable, smart and a team player are just some of the traits he has which will get you a scholarship at some level.

Trey’von Hopkins, 2018 CG, Oklahoma: Impact Athletics brought a squad of killers.  Hopkins and Embery are incredible dunkers and winners.  Hopkins slashes at an elite level.  He can shoot too, but defenders had enough trouble keeping him out of the lane.  Hopkins should commit to being a superstar stopper.  His athleticism suggests he will be able to shutdown almost any wing.  Of course it takes an extra level of conditioning to compete on both ends.  Look for him to break into the national rankings next update.

James Hampton, 2018 SG, Washington D.C.: Hampton had a great shooting weekend.  He loves shooting from the corner pocket.  As defenders get taller and more savvy he will need to move a little more off the ball to find the same shots.  He has a knack for getting open already.  One other subtle tactic Hampton should employ is running off screens or using curls.  He is so good at catch-and-shoot that he will ultimatley have plays called specifically for him.

Jordan Walton, 2018 PG, Missouri: Walton was one of the best shooters to compete.  He strung together buckets Sunday morning and didn't cool off Sunday afternoon.  His instructor urged Walton's teammates to keep feeding the hot hand.  Because he was knocking down shots his passing was not fully evaluated.  Walton will be asked to do both in the future.

Jharon Whitfield, 2018 SG, Louisiana: Whitfield is a versatile, complimentary player.  He does everything slightly better than average.  The foundation he has set for a future in basketball is encouraging.  Whitfield's strength and speed are hints that he will continue to be a great defender.

Keith Haymon- 2018 SF, Texas: Haymon is a player we have seen on mulitple occasions and he gets better we everytime we see him. He's long, wiry and a smooth operator.  The ability to score from all over the floor makes him hard to guard with the ball in his hands. He rebounds like a power forward and shoots it like a wing.  As he gets stronger look for his game to take the next step. His game kinda reminds us of a young Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.
