Houston, TX (Future150) -- With over 160 prospects in attendance at the 2014 Jr. Future150 Houston Camp, the competition was fierce at the top, as prospects battled for spots in the Top 24 All-Star Game for the 2018 class. After putting our heads together for several hours, here is who we thought deserved the recognition for their standout performances:
Mason Hix, 2018 SF/PF: The now 6-foot-4 combination forward has expanded his skills greatly over the past year. He has the ability to score the basketball on all three levels and uses his length and bounce to be a very effective rebounder on both ends of the floor as well.
Miller Kopp, 2018 SG: In terms of upside, there wasn't a kid at camp who has as much upside as the 6-foot-3 wing. He's an impressive scorer with skills beyond his years. He also has room to grow with both his body and his game. Very impressive.
Avery Smith, 2018 SG: One of the more powerful guards who attended the camp was the 6-foot-2 wing. He was a bulldozer on his way to the rim and stood out as a slasher. He loved to play transition basketball and was a high volume scorer throughout the weekend.
Jack Williams, 2018 PF: A high motor post prospect who can finish at the rim through contact, he rebounds the basketball well on both the defensive end as well as the offensive end. He has a solid frame and uses his upper body strength to jostle for position in the low post. He never takes a play off, and has an undying will to win.
Drake Dusek, 2018 SG: A skilled perimeter shooter, the 6-foot-1 combo guard is a highly skilled prospect. He has a high basketball IQ on the floor and rarely turns the ball over. When left open, he will make the defense pay with his outside shooting ability.
Henry Spriggs, 2018 SG: The athletic 6-foot-1 wing is an extremely talented defender. He will do whatever it takes for his team to win and because of that, he is willing to play mulitple positions on the floor in order to make it happen. On offense, he can score the basketball on all three levels, but is at his best when slashing to the rim.
Isaac Moore, 2018 SF: As far as upside goes, there aren't many prospects who have the long term potential that the 6-foot-3 small forward possesses. He's long and shows the ability to score the basketball on all three levels. He's also extremely fluid on offense and is also an active defender.
Jackson Kimble, 2018 PF: One of the more skilled prospects at camp was the 6-foot-2 combo forward. Right now, he has the size and toughness to play on the low block, but he also shows perimeter skills and if he continues to grow and gain lateral speed, he can transition to the wing eventually.
Malik Williams, 2018 PG/SG: Malik is a gifted passer and shined due to his unselfish play over the weekend. He loves to play at a fast tempo is capable of scoring around the rim with ease. He also has a high IQ on the floor and can periodically knock down perimeter shots.
Darius Alford, 2018 PG: A lead guard who plays with good pace, the 5-foot-8 speedster has a good first step and showed the capability to create for himself off-the-dribble as well. In the open floor, he was one of the most successful players all weekend in terms of getting to the basket and converting.
Darren Woodson, 2018 SG: The 6-foot combo guard is wired to score the basketball. He is a smooth and seamless guard who can take his defender off the bounce and is crafty around the rim. In transition, he uses his speed to get ahead of the defense and create scoring chances for himself.
P.J. Byrd, 2018 PG: A flashy playmaker, the 5-foot-10 Byrd displayed excellent court vision and passing skills throughout the weekend. He loves to play the transition game and is a crafty scorer around the rim. We also love the confidence he plays with on the floor.
Chase Theard, 2018 PF: A high motor big man at 6-foot-4, he was active on the glass all weekend. He showed flashes of his ability to finish around the rim and even stepped out and knocked down some long range jumpers throughout the camp as well. Raw but has a lot of potential.
Omar Wallace, 2018 PF: A strong and athletic post player at 6-foot-2, the Bellaire (TX) freshman was a force on the glass all weekend. He also cleaned up around the rim with scoring opportunities and had as high a motor as anyone at the camp.
Kyle Slater, 2018 SF: The 6-foot-4 combination forward is a solid long-term wing prospect that can finish when slashing to the rim but shows that he has range along the perimeter as well. He needs to work on his passing ability but overall there is a good amount of upside to his game. That being said, right now his best attributes are his rebounding ability and high motor.
Mustapha Muhammad, 2018 PF: One of the breakout campers this past weekend was the Ridge Point (TX) incoming freshman. A muscular and athletic 6-foot-3 power forward, he cleaned the glass all weekend and was active on the inside, using his size and skills to finish around the rim with ease.
Merdarius Roberts, 2018 SG: A talented slasher, the 5-foot-10 shooting guard got to the rim at will throughout the weekend. He is quick off-the-dribble and knows how to pick his spots when attacking the basket. Physical player with good speed in the open floor.
Eli Mouton, 2018 PG: One of the smartest prospects at camp was the 5-foot-7 lead guard. He is shifty with the ball in his hands & understands when to get his teammates the ball. He is also a fearless slasher who loves to win. Very good perimeter shooter as well.
Grant Sawyer, 2018 SF: This kid is a competitor! There wasn't a kid who played harder than him all weekend, whether he was diving for loose balls, crashing the boards, or fighting through screens. He also showed an ability to get hot from mid-range with his shooting.
Adrian Sherwood, 2018 SG: An explosive scorer at 5-foot-11, Sherwood has the ability to play both guard positions. He's smooth with the ball in his hands and is capable of creating for himself as well as for others. High volume scorer.
Jordan Oliver, 2018 PG: The 5-foot-9 combo guard is showing excellent growth in his game. Over the past year he has improved his speed in the open floor, finishing ability around the rim, and his perimeter shooting. He also plays with great savvy on the floor. Should become a very good player at Fort Bend Travis (TX).
Kalvin Ezekwe, 2018 PG: Ezekwe has good speed and vision, but what really helped him stand out from his peers was his motor and ability to rebound and finish plays from the lead guard position. He has a solid frame that he uses well and also possesses pretty decent body control while in the air.
Joe Ogunbanjo, 2018 SF: Ogunbanjo is a long and active forward who showed he can rebound the ball at a very high rate, as well as defend. While his offensive game is still a work in progress, there is a lot of potential to his game and it should only a matter of when, not if, he will put it all together.
Deontaye Green, 2018 SG: Green is a long and athletic guard that looks to get to the rim and constantly plays in attack mode. He uses his length well on the defensive side too, creating turnovers that lead to easy transition points.
