Nashville, TN (Future150) -- While it has been relatively quiet in the recruiting world over the past few weeks as basketball season inches closer, this past weekend provided some excitement for college basketball fans.
Several prospects made their intentions known on where they will be attending college, and a few of these prospects are nationally ranked and figure to be immediate impact players when they arrive on campus.
- San Diego State continued to strengthen their 2014 recruiting class by landing its fourth commit, Zylan Cheatham of South Mountain High School (AZ) on Saturday.
The #69 prospect in the country joins fellow ranked prospects Malik Pope (#27), Kevin Zabo (#96), and Trey Kell (#100) in the Aztecs loaded class.
He picked SDSU over New Mexico, and the bouncy athlete continues to show just how talented of a recruiter Steve Fisher is and has been.
- The Oregon Ducks landed a high-ceiling prospect of their own on Friday, gaining a pledge from Ray Kasongo. The 6-foot-8 forward is an explosive athlete who is only scratching the surface of what he can become. The Grassroots Canada big man joins Arizona guard Casey Benson in the Ducks class.
- Indiana picked up a pledge from Wilbraham and Monson (MA) power forward Max Hoetzel on Sunday. The 6-foot-8 forward joins Benedictine (VA) wing and explosive scorer Robert Johnson in the Hoosiers 2014 haul.
- Georgetown landed the first piece to their 2015 recruiting puzzle by landing Paul IV (VA) 6-foot-7 power forward Marcus Derrickson. The #35 prospect nationally is a skilled, bruising forward who can stretch the defense with his perimeter touch. He is the first commitment for the Hoyas in the 2015 class.
