Roselle, NJ (Future150) -- When talking about the top scorers in the class of 2016, New Jersey’s Tyus Battle has to be on the short list. The Gill St. Bernard’s guard burst onto the high school scene last season alongside Seton Hall bound Jaren Sina. Fast forward to this season and it is clear that this is Battle’s team to lead.

Despite being just a sophomore, he plays with poise of someone much older. He can score from all three levels and already has great size for his position. Battle recently returned from a wrist injury at the Primetime Shootout and showed no signs of rust on his way to a 25 point performance.

The Team Final guard is now looking forward to AAU season and getting back to 100%. Earlier this month he was still day-to-day but appears to be close to a full recovery. The injury  has done nothing to slow down his recruitment though, as elite programs from around the country continue to track him.

Syracuse, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, Villanova, and SMU have all extended offers while Duke and Kentucky are closely following along with his development. The talented swingman should only continue to draw attention from more of the elite programs nationally as time passes. He has already taken a visit to Indiana and was in attendance for the first Duke-Syracuse game at the Carrier Dome. Next up is a visit to Ohio State in early March.

“It’s an honor to have schools like these all recruiting me, It’s early on in the process but it’s definitely something I’m happy about,” he said of his recruitment.

Battle was taken aback by the atmosphere of the Duke-Syracuse game, furthering the idea that this rivalry may be one of the best in the ACC despite being just two games old.

“It was crazy, the energy at the game and the level they played at, it was just insane, it was a great game to be at,” Battle said.

After the Ohio State visit, AAU season won’t be far around the corner, meaning Battle will again be able to showcase his ability to score the ball on the national circuit. Follow along with Future150 as we track him throughout the spring and summer and into the future.
