Cullman, AL (Future150) -- Cold Springs, Alabama is just about the smallest town in north Alabama, but it is becoming good at producing underrated basketball talent.

Alabama-Huntsville got a steal with 2013 point guard Chayse Elliott, who garnered attention from several low-major programs.

Now, he has passed the torch to another talented scoring guard in Triston Chambers.

Without Elliott in the fold, Chambers is expected to carry the load for Cold Springs High School the next few years. He welcomes the thought, as he can score in bunches and distribute the basketball.

“I think my outside shooting and getting people the ball in the right time and place are my strengths,” Chambers told Future150.com.

Elliott also speaks highly of his former teammate and close friend, and he expects big things from him in the future:

“I think Triston will do extremely well. He has the chance to be the best player to play at Cold Springs. The kid works so hard and big things are ahead for him.”

To this point, Samford, UAB, and Alabama (all local schools) have expressed interest in the 6-foot-2 shooting guard. Those schools are expected to increase within the next year, though, especially with a good year in high school and AAU ball.

Despite being a sophomore, Chambers has high hopes for this season and his career.

“Of course, I want to get a state championship ring. I believe we have the chance to do it this year with a lot of youth, but mainly, I just want to represent my school to the best of my ability.”

“I would also like to go after the county scoring record at 2200. I scored 515 points my first year, and I was nowhere near the level I am now.”

It is still early in the process and a number of schools are expected to jump into his recruitment, but Chambers has some factors as to where he wants to go to school right now.

I’m looking for a good educational school. I also want a good program with shooters that are given the chance to shoot, and, really, go anywhere that I am allowed to play the game I love,” he explained.

Expect to hear Chambers’ name throughout the year, especially with a couple of high-scoring performances.
