Jackson, MS (Future150) -- Future150 was back on the road once again scouting the Southeast area last weekend in Jackson, MS. Jackson is the home of NBA Superstar Monte Ellis and recent five star Mississippi State commit Malik Newman. Some of the brightest and more talented players come from Jackson.
The MBA Basketball Complex hosted its MBA Spring Showcase and Future150 was on hand to watch the talent. Below is the top perfomers from last weekend.
2015 PG Martaveous McKnight (Team Thunder) - He is a big bodied guard who can do it all. The ability to score on all three level made him pretty much unstoppable all weekend long. His best attribute was his ability to shoot the 3-ball which he made consistently. He led his team to the championship and took home MVP honors as well. Coaches if you’re looking for 6’4” PG who is a full qualifier, McKnight is your guy.
2018 PF Roderick Smith (Jackson Kings)- Smith was the most intriguing prospect we saw this past weekend. At 6-foot-6 inches and 230 pounds, he a force to be dealt with in the low block area. Once he gets the ball he can put it on the floor and showed multiple moves when attacking his defender. He’s a great rebounder on both ends and uses his body well when taking contact. Tons of upside for this young big fellow.
2018 PG Jaqarius Harris (Jackson Kings)- Harris is a pass first type point guard who makes everyone on his team better. He has really good court vision and a nice feel for the game. He is crafty off the dribble and loves knocking down the 15 foot mid-range shot. As he grows, look for his game to grow as well.
2017 SG Donavan Lewis (MBA Warhawks)- Lewis is 6-foot-4 inches with long arms and super fundamental. He proved he can make the open shot especially the long range 3-pointer. He is very versatile and can guard multiple positions on the floor. As he gets stronger and becomes more athletic look for his game to go to next level.
2016 CF Mike Stribbling (Miss Thunder)- Stribbling is a under size power forward who can play both inside and out. His ability to stretch the floor to 20 feet and knock down the three ball makes him a threat at all times. He also has the post-game to take advantage of his size and punish smaller defenders at the rim. As he gets in better shape with his conditioning, look for his game to make a jump.
2017 PG Thomas Cain Jr. (MBA Hoops Elite) Cain is a point guard all coaches want on the floor at all times. He’s under control, a coach on the floor, and knows how to make his teammates better. The one thing he can do is make shots. At times when his team needed a bucket he would just go get one. That’s something you just can’t teach.
2018 SG Tyrone Brewer (MBA Hoops Elite) Brewer is currently in the Future150 national rankings and it was easy to see why. He super long, an elite athlete and knows how to score on all three levels. He had some of the better highlight dunks of the weekend. As he continues to get stronger look for game to become more well rounded.
2017 SF Kassime Nichols (MBA Hoops Elite) Nichols is 6-foot-7 inches, super long and skilled. He loves scoring in transition and can finish above the rim. His ball handling has improved since we saw him last and it has allowed him to attack better from the wing. He was in attack mode all weekend knocking down mid-range jumper after mid-range jumper. He needs to get stronger which will help his game a ton. Solid D1 prospect.
2016 SF Jimmy Morton (MBA Warhawks) Morton at 6-foot-5 inches is a highlight real waiting to happen. He had the best dunk of the weekend in the Final Four game where he came down the middle of the lane and dunked on 2 defender with a left handed hammer. He holds the current record for the MS high school high jump at 7’2”. His mid-range jumper was his biggest asset and he made it consistently. If you looking for a great wing rebounder who can defend and score, Morton is your guy.

Wing Joseph Evans-WBBP
Showed the ability to stretch the floor with and without the ball in his hands. He is a good on ball defender as well a good rebounder. Has a nice IQ with the ability to find space on floor to score and help others score as well.
PF Zaven Wingate-LP Stingers
Wingate is a BIG man that showed his versatility by doing different things this past weekend. He rebounds the well on both ends of the floor and knows his positions, he worked the low and high post areas well over the weekend and it set up and teammates for good things.
CG Zachaeus Beard-WBBP
A very physical guard that can get it done on both ends and loves to play defense. His scoring abilities were crazy this past weekend. He is a special player, because is an all around player which college coaches love and I know he see’s his abilities now but he is not done grow physically and mentally.
PF Tykaylain Burks-LP Stingers
He is a big man that should have a nickname like the clean-up man because he is just that. The type of kid that plays with a great motor and is always around the rim looks to score the ball in any type of way. His abilities he showed this past weekend proved that he will become a dominate player in years to come.
Wing Emory Mason- Bengle All-Stars
Mason is young and talented with a strong body frame and he adds that with nice skill set. This past weekend he showed the ability to attack the rim and shoot the mid-range jump shot. He also showed great versatility by using his size to rebound and taking advantage of the low-post against smaller defenders.
PF Cameron Jordan-Bengle All-Stars
A very athletic big man and showed a lot of versatility this past weekend. He showed the ability to finish in double teams situations and stretch the floor to make the opposing defense work. He is also a solid defender, who can defend multiple positons which at his age is great sign to see.
Wing Jakemine Adney-Alpha Omega Elite
Adney knows how to score the ball in all types of situations, this past weekend was his showing of what he can do. He has a nice pull up mid-range jump shot and because of that it makes it hard for defenders to guard him because of his scoring abilities. He defends the ball well and plays tough the whole game.
PG Tyler Jefferson-Alpha Omega
He is quick and skilled PG that runs his team well and also showed the ability to score the ball in multiple ways. He plays with great energy every play and keeps his team involved in the games and he also plays great on ball defense and uses his size to his advantage on both ends of the floor.
Guard Armond Reed- LP Stingers
A very speedy guard that plays hard every play. He scored the ball this past weekend in so many ways. He was able to push the ball in transition and find the shooters, his coach spoke about how he use his speed on both ends of the court which makes him an all-around player.
