Drive Nation Dominates 14U Division In Dallas

Dallas, TX (Future150) -- Drive Nation (TX) breezed through the competition at the 2017 Future150 Main Event Dallas Tournament last weekend, winning the 14U title game easily over Texas Select (TX) by a score of 57-40. Damon Nicholas led the charge, scoring 20 points, while Klayton Copeland scored 13 points. In a losing effort, Jace Washington led the charge for Texas Select.

Future150 Main Event Dallas Honor Roll List:

Damon Nicholas, 2021 SG, Drive Nation (TX): The best eighth grade prospect in the event this past weekend, the 6’1” wing has a very bright future. An unselfish prospect who can score on all three levels, he had no issues when playing against his peers. Even more impressive, he played up in the 15U division as well, and stood out with his offensive and defensive ability.

LJ Gurley, 2021 PG, Norman Elite (OK): One of the toughest guards to contain off-the-dribble was the slippery 5’8” point guard. He played in Dallas Main Event two weekends ago with his Oklahoma Impact Team, and was named a standout there as well. Another aspect of his game that we really enjoy is that he is a capable shooter from the perimeter, and has excellent form on his release.

Jace Washington, 2021 SF, Texas Select (TX): The 6’3” wing prospect has proven over the past three weeks to be one of the best rising freshman in the DFW metro area. A high-motor player who loves to attack the rim, he’s also capable of knocking down the occasional perimeter shot as well. On defense, he’s a physical beast and he loves to shut down the opposition.

Seth Ford, 2021 SG, Texas Full Potential (TX): The 6'1" wing was one of the most explosive leapers in the field, and had no trouble playing above the rim. He also loved to attack when heading downhill, showing an ability to get to the foul-line at will. On defense, he showed intensity and took pride in trying to lock up the opposition.

Jordan Carpenter, 2021 PG, Texas Full Potential (TX): The 5’10” lead guard is an extremely smooth prospect. While he isn’t overly quick, he has good handles and has no issues getting to the rim. He also showed solid court vision over the weekend, and he can score on multiple levels as well. The icing on the cake for Jordan is that he’s barely 14 years old, giving him a chance to become a classic late-bloomer down the line.

Christian Miller, 2021 Post, AR HD Elite (AR): The 6’3” post worked tirelessly throughout the weekend. He had one of the best motors at Dallas Main Event, and there were very few prospects as active as him on the glass. He also showed that he’s capable of finishing around the rim once he gets into a solid rhythm.

Jarkell Lovelace, 2022 SG, AKYB Elite (AR): The 5’8” wing prospect was playing up in the 14U division this past weekend, but that didn’t stop him from impressing our staff. He’s a smooth wing who can score on the perimeter as well as when attacking the rim. As he continues to grow and mature, he should develop into one of the more polished guards in the state of Arkansas.

Jacob Millhouse, 2021 SG, NTX Hawks (TX): The 6-foot shooting guard brought it during game one on the opening Friday night of the tournament, scoring 22 points in a big win for his NTX Hawks squad. He plays with a very good feel for the game, has solid ball skills ,and clearly is wired to get baskets on the offensive end.

Vinson Miller, 2021 PG, Texas Warriors (TX): The 5'10" floor general impressed us with his scoring ability in Dallas. He showed that he is able to get to the rim when he wants, but can also knock down the three ball enough in order to keep the defense honest. He's also a leader on the floor.

Isaac Holbrecht, 2021 PG, Pack Elite (TX): The 5’3” combo guard was a steadying force for his team over the weekend. While he isn’t very tall, he knows how to create opportunities for himself against bigger defenders, and showed that he was capable of knocking down shots from the perimeter as well.
