Chicago, IL (Future150) -- Illinois head coach John Groce continued his strong run on the recruiting trail on Tuesday morning, dipping into a strong Chicago pool of talent to land Simeon (IL) star D.J. Williams.

The 6-foot-7 wing is the #43 prospect in the class of 2015, and will be the focal point of his high school team this season with former star Jabari Parker now a freshman at Duke.

He becomes the first commitment in Illinois' 2015 class, and picked the B1G school over scholarship offers from Florida, DePaul, SMU, and significant interest from several other high profile programs nationally.

He will join former Simeon stars Jaylon Tate and Kendrick Nunn when he arrives at Illinois, both of whom are currently freshman with the program.

Illinois will look to continue its strong run on the recruiting trail, focusing on landing the #2 prospect nationally in the 2014 class, Chicago Curie (IL) post prospect Cliff Alexander

The 6-foot-8, 240-pound power forward will announce his college decision on November 15th, picking between Illinois, Kansas, DePaul, and Memphis.

Illinois already holds commitments from ranked prospects in physical forward Leron Black (#14) and scoring point guard Quentin Snider (#41) in the 2014 class. Adding Alexander would give them a top 5 class nationally and give the program serious momentum going forward.
