Deptford, NJ (Future150) -- Ishmael Massoud hasn't become a household name in recruiting circles just yet, but at this point it seems like it's just a matter of time. The talent around the NYC area has been on the up-tick and the class of 2018 fits that trend.
Massoud is just one of many potential high-major players in the area, and is arguably Cardinal Hayes' top prospect in quite a few years. At 6-foot-7, he can play either guard position. He will need to learn how to become more aggressive as a scorer, as Massoud played point guard before hitting a big growth spurt.
"I feel like I really have to work on my guard skills and upper body strength, now that I've kind of stopped growing, I know I have great size for my position, so developing my skills is all im focused on right now," Massoud of his game.
Iona, Yale, Colgate, Stony Brook, and Fairfield have all offered already and it seems as though it is only a matter of time before the high-major programs in the area get involved as well.
A high academic kid as well, it appears as though academics will play a factor in his recruitment. Overall, he is a big time prospect that will only continue to improve over this season. Look for him to have a big time AAU season and pick up a lot of offers along the way.
