New York, NY (Future150) -- Every year, the early signing period always brings about a ton of excitement from fanbases. Whether it's because the recruits who have verbally committed can sign their letters of intent, or due to the fact that their favorite program has landed a new recruit, this is a fun time of year.

With that in mind, Future150 breaks down a number of the big stories that have taken place since the start of the early signing period on Wednesday:

Kentucky gets it's next great guard

It's no secret that John Calipari has done a great job with athletic point guards in the college ranks. With De'Aaron Fox committing last night, he has another talented play maker that he can develop and send off to the professional ranks. The Future150 alum could be stepping into a situation where he dominates the ball depending on who leaves after this season.

De'Ron Davis Pulls the Trigger for Indiana

Tom Crean and Indiana have been on Davis since the summer of his 8th grade season. Ultimately that was too much for the talented big man to overlook. He should be an impact player from day one regardless of who is in the Hoosier front court.

UNC Keeps Things Rolling

Much has been made about the coming sanctions facing the Tarheel program after the academic scandal. Tha story line appears to be played out. North Carolina snuck in to SC and nabbed one of the top guards in the country in Seventh Woods. While the combo-guard has a different game than Marcus Paige, his commitment will soften the blow of Paige's graduation.

UCLA Taps into Magic Pipeline

Steve Alford has recruited local powerhouse AAU program Compton Magic very well since arriving at UCLA. On Thursday, he landed his best commit from the program to date in T.J. Leaf. A talented forward with athleticism, Leaf will be someone that can be built around moving forward.

Howland Lands the Crown Jewel

Ben Howland has immediately improved the talent on the Bulldogs roster. On Wednesday he landed another big time recruit and arguably the cherry on top to his massive 2016 class. Mario Kegler may be at Oak Hill this season, but will return to his home state for college basketball. The Future150 Alum will certainly soften the blow of potentially losing Malik Newman after this season.

Future150 Alums in the Early Signing Period

Fox (Houston camp) and Kegler (Birmingham Camp) are just a couple of players who have come through our ranks over the years who committed or signed in this signing period. Carsen Edwards (Houston camp) and Matt Moyer (The Summit) are two other prospecs who signed their letters of intent to Purdue and Syracuse respectively. In total, 17 alums committed to High-major programs this fall. Expect that number to grow even further this spring.
