Huntsville, AL (Future150) -- High School basketball in the state of Alabama has been in full force during the month of June and the talent in the 2023 class has been on full display.  Future150 has traveled the state watching team camps, play dates and the month of May in AAU travel basketball.

Heading into the July "LiVE" period there are have been new faces emerge and old ones develop at rapid pace over the last several months.  Here is a list of the 2023 Alabama Top 30 list.

There is a new #1 in the state of Alabama and that is SG Carson Muse of West Morgan High School.  We have watched him over the last 3 months in AAU travel ball and he has not disappointed.  Muse has grown to 6-foot-6 inches and 200 pounds.  He has gotten more athletic when attacking the rim and his perimeter game has gotten consistent from the 3-point line shooting it 43% for the summer. The high major prospect never takes a play off and competes to the final buzzer.

The former number 1 prospect in the state checks in at #2 and that is the Grissom High product PG RJ Johnson.  Johnson is 6-foot-3 inch and 205 pounds of growm man with a ton of athleticism.  He is hell on wheels with ball in his hands in transition and is one of the best finishers at the rim we've seen.  He's a willing passer and has good feel for the game.  As this high major prospect continues to mature, compete on both ends and incresase his motor the sky is the limit.

Checking in at # 3 is PF Cade Phillips of Jacksonville High.  Phillips is a 6-foot-7 inch long and athletic forward who is one of the best finishers above the rim in the class. His length and paint presence on defense is a huge deterrant for rim attackers. He needs to develop his dribbling ball skills and shooting consistency if he plans to play outside the paint at the high major level.

The #4 prospect in the state is Cade Phillips teammate a Jacksonville High in SG John Broom. Broom is 6-foot-4 inches tall and 175 pounts.  This smooth lefty can do it all with the ball in his hands.  He can score on all three levels and makes it look easy at times when he catches his groove.  There is a ton of upside to his game but conistency on both ends of the floor is what it will take to push him over the top.

Newcomers, big movers up and down to the Alabama 2023 list.

The Plainview High School SF Luke Smith come in at #7 and has put on an absolute show during the month of June at Team Camps and Play Dates.  The 6-foot-5 inch and 185 pound prospect has gained a ton of confidence playing AAU this Spring and rolled that into June for this high school team.  Smith is shooting the ball at a high clip of 44% from beyound the arc and is getting the rim of the bounce with ease.  As he becomes stronger and the skill continues to grow look for this D1 prospect to stack offer in July.

The Mountain Brook high school product PF Julius Clark checks in at #10 on the Alabama 2023 list.  Clark stand 6-foot-5 inches and 185 pounds and plays the 5 position for his high school team.  His developing skill set has recently seen him handling and shooting the ball more during June Team Camp.  If this prospect expects to play at the next level he needs to make the full time move to the wing. There is upside to his game if his guard skills increase.

The Texas move in PG Kyle Layton of Mountain Brook checks in at #11 on the list.  The 6-foot-1 inch and 175 pound lead guard plays with a motor you rarely see.  He can score from all three levels and his on ball defense is elite.  The three ball is his best friend as that's where he does most of his damage.

Checking in at #14 is SF Keenan Walker of James Clemons out of Huntsville.  Walker is 6-foot-4 inch jumping jack who can finish above the rim with the best of them.  His willingness to compete on both ends of the floor moves him up the list 5 spots.  As his shot becomes more consistent look for him to make another jump in the rankings.

New to the list at #20 on the list is CG Izzy Miles of Grissom High and teammate of RJ Johnson.  Miles is 6-foot-2 inch and 170 pounds of electricity waiting to explode.  He has become more athletic, shoots the ball with more consistency and is a better on ball defender.  After watching him in June, Miles has proven he belongs with the top players in the state.

Here are just a few players that are new to the list that deserve recognition for their play in AAU and June.  #9 PG Madrecus Moreland of Shades Valley is a scoring machine. #17 SG Cameron Collins of Austin can score on all three levels and shoots the 3 ball well. #22 CG Jonah Williams of Plainview just came of an injury but seems to be getting back to his old 3-point snipper self.  #23 CG Tristan Sexton of Scootsboro is a swiss army knife for his team and can score in bunches.
