Jackson, MS (Future150) -- While it's quite a statment for sophomore Malcolm Evans to make, it might carry some weight a few years down the road.

Right now, Future150 unanimously disagrees with Evans. Our #1 in the state is the #1 player in the entire 2015 class, combo guard Malik Newman.

However, if you take a closer look at Malcolm, it's easy to see why he could ultimately become the best player to come out of the state in regards to players in his age range.

He is a long and athletic shooting guard prospect who goes 6'7", 195-pounds. Playing for Forest Hill High School this season, his 7-18 team didn't create much buzz in the city, especially with the strong teams fielded by city rivals Callaway and Provine.

"I think that me, Malik, and Mario are the best three players in the state," he told Future150.

"What sets me apart is my shooting ability. I've been working hard, and it's been paying off in the gym," he said.

This summer, he will be playing on a powerful MBA Hoops 17U team, where he will focus on becoming more aggressive and getting more defensive stops.

In regard to a goal for next season, he has one in mind.

"I want to make it to the coliseum," he said in reference to the Mississippi Coliseum, where all state championship games are held.

"My dream school is Ohio State, so I want to get their attention with my play."

If his game becomes as bold as his statements, it could definitely happen.
