Quick Recap:
The West Davidson Dragons topped the Ledford Panthers on Monday night by the score of 41-39. West Davidson was led by their backcourt of 2019 CG Drew Wright and 2017 CG Scott Hughes who combined to score 32 of the Dragons 41 points. Ledford was led by their young guns with Freshmen Jaden Barker (11 points) and Jake Ledbetter (9 points) leading the team in scoring. Ledford was down by 10 at one point in the second half before 2017 G McAllister Ingram took over down the stretch forcing some turnovers on defense and making some beautiful plays on the offensive end. Barker cut the Dragons lead all the way to one at the free throw line with about 20 seconds to go. The Panthers did have a chance to tie or take the lead at the end of the game, but West Davidson held on for the victory.

Quick Thoughts:
Even though Ledford loses key players like Cohen Bennett, Ian O’Toole, and McAllister Ingram after this season the future looks bright with 2020’s Jake Ledbetter (6’1” SG) and Jayden Barker (6’5” CF) looking like potential studs and the Panthers will also have Dan Gross, Robert Little, and Korey Jordan back on the floor next season as well.

West Davidson isn’t usually known for their basketball talents but the backcourt of Drew Wright and Scott Hughes looked very good tonight going against a tough-nosed opposing backcourt consisting of Cohen Bennett and Ian O’Toole. Wright is a Sophomore standing at just 5’10” while Hughes is probably one of the best Seniors in the area at 6’5” and being able to do a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor. Both can shoot it from deep, play smart, and have no issues finishing through contact.
