2015 Team Final guards Donte Divincenzo (Salesianum, DE) and Malachi Richardson (Trenton Catholic, NJ) have both cut their lists to six schools as of this afternoon.
Divincenzo listed Syracuse, Pitt, Villanova, Rutgers, Florida, and Vanderbilt as his final six.
Richardson listed Syracuse, Villanova, Rutgers, Arizona, Indiana, and UConn as his final six.
Both of these players are highly regarded, Richardson has been a big name in recruiting circles for years now, while Divincenzo broke out on the scene this summer.
Could the two play together? It’s a possibility. Richardson has the size to slide over to SF while Divincenzo is the primary ball handler for his Salesianum squad.
It’s worth noting that UConn recently took a commitment from SG Prince Ali, whether that hurts or helps their chances with Richardson remains to be seen.
Last summer they played on different Team Final squads but appear to be poised to both play on the EYBL circuit together this year. That will go a long way in answering if the two can be on the floor at same time. Landing either one of these players will give a team someone who can really shoot it and space the floor. In Rutgers, Syracuse, and Villanova’s cases landing both could make shooting a serious strength for their respective teams.
There has been no indication that they are a “package deal” but it will be interesting to see how these schools recruit the two going forward.
Neither seem ready to commit before the AAU season begins, so it will be a few months at least before this picture becomes more clear.
