Many high school basketball fans in north Alabama were keeping tabs on star scorer Brandon Roberts, a senior at West Morgan High School. A week after committing to Samford, the point guard found out that his season was one of the more impressive statistical years for a player in quite some time.
This season, Roberts finished with 1,006 points in a season, 8th all-time in AHSAA history. He also finished 2nd for most field goals made in one season with 354.
Roberts also touched 50 points a few times this season. His season-high total was 51 points, 42nd all-time in the state.
FWIW: Walter Garrett holds the record for most points in a game in the state of Alabama with 97. He did so back in the 1960s, before the three-point line came into play!
