From the sounds of things, it sounds like 2014 guard D’Angelo Russell had a great visit to Kentucky on Monday. I swapped text messages with him this afternoon, and he had a lot of great things to say about campus.

“The visit was really nice. The coaching staff really caught my attention,” Russell said via text Monday afternoon. “Especially Kenny Payne.”

Payne is handling his recruitment for now, but the rising junior also spoke to john Calipari during the visit, too.

“Coach [John] Calipari and I sat and talked for a good 20 minutes,” he explained. “He just talked to me about his plans and how Kentucky isn’t for everyone.”

As many know, the new dorms known as the Wildcat Lodge have recently been constructed. Russell raved about the new facility.

“The place was clean and everyone had a room to themselves. It was nice!”

“Overall, it was a good visit.”

Russell will visit Tennessee soon.

I have a friend who works with D’Angelo Russell’s cousin (Darrell Russell) at Fireking International.  My friend and the cousin were discussing D’Angelo this week.  According to the cousin, Russell does not yet have an offer from UK.  The cousin says that D’Angelo’s father definitely does NOT want Louisville.  The cousin also says that D’Angelo’s “true list” is only Kentucky and Ohio State.

I can confirm he does not have an offer from UK, too. He has considered OSU and UK as dream schools for a long time. I think he ultimately ends up at UK if an offer is extended, but Ohio State has a good grip on him right now.

When Wayne Selden re-classified, it automatically helped Russell. Not to mention he has be soaring up rankings.

I talk to D’Angelo a good bit, so I can say I agree with all of what you say.
