Just a few updates in the fast moving world of high school basketball recruiting.
Yesterday Marquette landed a commitment from 2015 SG Sacar Anim, who chose the Golden Eagles over Dayton, Northern Iowa, & Northwestern among others. Sacar is a true scoring guard and should be able to help Steve “Wojo” & Co. put the ball in the basket almost immediately. Anim joins a successful 2015 recruiting that includes PF Henry Ellenson, SG Haanif Cheatham, & C Matt Heldt. A great haul for the staff at Marquette especially considering Wojo is just in his first year as head coach. Things are definitely looking up for the future of Marquette Basketball.
Along with the commitment of a 2015 SG, another 2016 SG made some news by trimming his list to seven schools.
Tyus Battle cut his list to Connecticut, Duke, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, & Syracuse. Tyus has been a highly coveted recruit ever since his process began, as he is locked in as a top five SG in almost all recruiting service rankings. Battle recently took a visit to Michigan and looks like he’s planning to take officials to Duke and Louisville before he sits down and starts to seriously think about what school he will attend. (For probably one season) Tyus’s Father recently told NJ.com that Tyus isn’t enjoying the process and looks to commit sooner rather than later. As Battle’s recruitment comes to a close in the next few months look for it to come down to Duke, Michigan, or Syracuse. Tyus has the closest relationships with those coaching staffs and that is ultimately what his choice will come down to.
