Future150 updated our class of 2014 rankings with a lull in AAU action before the frenetic July “live period”. The biggest jump in the rankings came from Texas center Myles Turner, who has dominated several events so far this year.

Several other prospects surged in the rankings, including Kelly Oubre, Shaqquan Aaron, Brekkott Chapman, and Trey Kell.

Inevitably, there are always a few prospects who are knocking on the door of the rankings. So the Future150 staff is wondering, which prospects deserve a look in July? Let us know…

Have you guys seen or know of UConn watching any players so far in the live period? Any answer is greatly appreciated.

I see Eric Lockett not in the top 150 anymore, this is surprising because I saw him lock down your #1 player Tyrus Jones holding him to two points when they were matched up for most of the game. one of the most versatile 6’6 players in the nation. Sad how politics runs this.

We like Eric as a fringe top 150 prospect, and after his performances this week, he will again be in the discussion for the rankings. That being said, I’m not sure what “politics” you are referring to. I haven’t seen any other media services nationally rank him other than Future150. If a prospect proves their worth, they will be ranked. Period. That is exactly what he did last year, and did again this year, which is why he will again be in contention for a ranking. If “politics” ran our business, the only kids who would be ranked on our site would be kids who have the well known names, and we have tons of prospects who you won’t find on any other website. We pride ourselves on finding diamonds in the rough at every event we hold or go to.  All of that being said, Eric is one of our favorite prospects in the Southeast, a kid who plays excellent defense and is extremely unselfish. He can become a big-time college player in the right system, and we will continue to promote him to the college coaches.

I agree with you on some of your points, but “politics” are relevant throughout the rankings. The point I was trying to make was that he was taken off the top 150 where he was previously ranked. If you are looking for these diamonds in the ruff, your over looking alot of talent out there. I know you can’t cover every athlete out there but when a kid keeps proving himself against these “higher rated” players, it brings in the question what are theses people that are doing the rankings really looking for? You just follow the trend. you might throw some players in there just to be a little different but the trend remains the same. The big D1 schools see the same thing I see.
