OK… I’m new here… so let’s see what Future 150’s recruiting gurus can tell me.

In a recent interview with Dave Telep regarding the U17 games, Jahil Okafor said that UK is “recruiting hard” a 2013 Croatian SG named Mario Hezonja.

According to NBADraft.net, Hezonja is projected as the #7 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

On 7/7/12, Jason Givony of Draft Express watched Hezonja at the U17 games and said he is the best player in the WORLD born in 1995.

An insider at True Blue Kentucky told me, “You don’t need to worry about the name just yet.”

Can anyone tell me anything about Kentucky’s recruitment of Hezonja?  I assume Calipari will not touch Hezonja unless he is certain that it will not end like the Enes Kanter situation ended.

Kentucky is also going to be getting Harrison at SG… so it would be nuts for Kentucky to have two potential lottery picks at SG on the same roster.

I just asked Dave Telep for more info.  Telep said Okafor had bad info… and that he’s been told Hezonja is already a pro.  If true, too bad.

I had heard while UK was looking at the other Croatian for 2012, they were hoping to lay a road for this kid, too. I didn’t really pay attention to it and I never really thought it would be an issue.

But I do know he is playing professionally. He plays for KK Zagreb.

I agree with TBK, this isn’t a name to worry about. I assume if he does attend a college, he will have a late decision, and especially with the way 2013 is lined up, UK probably won’t need him. That is barring some crazy scenario that the Harrisons and/or James Young do not choose Kentucky
