Rondae Jefferson is officially down to Arizona, Florida, Texas, Memphis, Temple, Rutgers & Syracuse. With his brother being Temple’s Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson, Temple joining the Big East in basketball in 2013, and the Owls being the local school, how good of a shot does Temple have at landing the 5-star talent?

Does Texas have a serious shot with him? I haven’t heard much about his interest in Texas…

Temple does have a good shot at landing him considering the proximity of his hometown of Chester, PA being only 15 miles from Philadelphia, as well as his brother being a member of the Owls team. However, Arizona is making a HUGE push to land him.

I just can’t seem to pinpoint what Barnes is doing this recruiting cycle. He likely has just 2 or 3 scholarships. But he seems to be behind for his major targets. He’s in there but not at the top for Nick King, JaJuan Johnson, Keith Frazier, Julius Randle, Jordan Mickey, etc.
It looks like he may miss out on all of them.

Barnes need to lock down his own state..the talent is there and every kid dreams about playing at Texas if your from Texas…Barnes time is about up and times are starting to pass him by in my opinion.  There is no reason Texas shouldnt get who they want in that state.

I completely agree with you. Right now, Texas does seem likely to miss on all of the above prospects mentioned. However, their very strong freshman class this past season paired with Cameron Ridley, Prince Ibeh, and Javan Felix this coming season should have them just fine in the next few years…regardless of who they land in 2013.

But that’s just not the truth anymore. They grow up wanting to play for the blueboods. They pounce at the idea of a UNC, Duke, or Kentucky offer. Matt Jones grew up a Duke fan. Randle was a UNC fan. They don’t look at Texas as highly as they do in football.

These older coaches are having harder times relating to these kids these days is the major problem in my opinion.  The Hip Hop Culture is not what the old school coaches are really up on….JMO

I guess that makes sense. Especially with what Sean Miller is doing at Arizona. Which comes full circle with this thread and why Jefferson may like them.

Thanks for entertaining my thoughts guys.

I’ll be back.

I agree. The game is changing. Outside of coaches like Coach K, Roy Williams, and a few others who have stable programs and NBA draft picks year in and year out, kids now want to play for coaches that they can relate to and places where they can play right away in order to showcase their game to NBA execs.

Wasn’t Temple in trouble for Prostitution in AC?
-some basketball player got busted.
And after that, Temple lost its committed player.
—guess he was not down with Prostitution.

From the West, Rondae Jefferson is a key Arizona recruiting target.

So, when he is set to visit Arizona?

Rondae says that his mother is handling the recruiting.
-hearing that she will be in Venice and already enjoys the West.
