Dallas, TX (Future150) -- Future150 was back out again on Saturday watching the PrimeTime Sports Nationals bracket play with the losers going home. The intensity picked up trememdously and the players were definitely competing on another level.
Here are the top performers from Saturday in the middle school division.
Jamarkus Wilson- SF, 2019 (LA Ballers Elite): Wilson was one of the top performers on Saturday willing his team to an Elite 8 win in OT. His frame might be slight, long and wiry but don't let that fool you, he can flat out score the rock. He can score on all three levels and can be a secondary ball handler if need be. "Competitor" might be the best way to describe his game.
Cameron Colvin- SG, 2019 (LA Ballers Elite): Colvin is a glue guy that makes all of his teammates better. He has a big body that is built like a football player, but he is definitely skilled on the basketball court. He is most effective when scoring in transition and using his strength getting to the basket. He scored 12 points from FT line which shows he loves contact. Team player best describes him.
Mylik Wilson- PG, 2019 (LA Roadrunners): Wilson is a silky smooth PG who can score the rock especially on the fast break. He is lethal with the ball in his hands. His first step is explosive which gives him the ability to create separation from his defender. If you leave him open he will make you pay, especially from long range.
Jelen Hanspard-SG, 2019 (Texas Soldiers): Hanspard is a player who likes finding his spots and shooting the three ball. He was one of the more consistent shooters we saw on Saturday. He also has good ball handling skills which allows him to play both guard positions. Defense is something he takes pride in playing and he led his team in steals.
Finn Corwin- PG, 2019 (Dallas Hurricanes): Corwin is a familiar face to the Future150 staff. He scored at will and did most of his damage off the dribble not only scoring but creating for his teammates. He is super fundamental and loves making plays. Gritty would be the best word that describes his game. Shot maker and creator are two words that apply as well.
Jacari Sanders- PG, 2019 (Texas Soldiers): Sanders is a sniper on offense from the three point line. He made three consecutive 3's on three consecutive posessions to give his team a lead that they would not relinquish in the first bracket play game. He also draws the defensive assignment of the other teams best player.
Anthony Taylor-PG, 2020 (Shreverport Gators): Taylor started the game off slow against Basketball University but that didn’t last long. The small yet shifty guard had the ball on a string and got wherever he wanted to go on the court. He also used his quickness to get into the lane and draw fouls or finish plays. He finished the game well enough to erase his slow start.
Josh Smith-SF, 2020 (Cy Hoops): Josh was the glue guy for his Cy Hoops squad. If he wasn’t rebounding he was scoring, if he wasn’t scoring he was getting steals. His athleticism was vital in being able to play and guard the SF, PF, and C position effectively. He is one to keep an eye on moving forward thanks to his versatility.
Dayton Booker- PG, 2020 (Gulfcoast Magic): Though he’s small Booker has a lot of game. He is a natural scorer that found ways to get the ball in the basket He used crafty moves around the rim to avoid blocks and still get the bucket. When he is in attack mode he’s either getting points or getting fouled.
Yuvraj Sidhu- C, 2020 (BMM): Yuvraj showed flashes of his high skill level and a high motor. He used both hands to finish well and also used a left hook on one attempt that looked natural. His willingness to be an aggressive rebounder and make hustle plays will only make him that much better as time goes on. With his skill and how hard he plays, the sky is the limit.
Hayden Strange-PG, 2020 (BMM): Strange was the main scorer for his team. He showed a pretty stroke from three with consistency when he set his feet. Strange also got to the basket to create scoring opportunities when his shot wasn’t falling or the defense over played him. He scored on all three levels and did so consistently.
Damien Phillips- PG, 2020 (Arkansas Wings): Damien was a leader for the Wings emotionally and physically. His energy on defense was game-changing. He has the ability to lock down full court and he is in your face non-stop with his stocky, football like frame. He showed that when the game is tough the better he get and his will to win is special.
