Dallas, TX (Future150) -- Day 3 of the 2014 PrimeTime Nationals started Saturday with the Championship Bracket in the 14U division at Swisher Courts. The bracket featured some of the more well known teams in the Southwest battling for the big prize, the National Championship. Here are the standouts from the first two rounds of the championship bracket...
Tyler Panyanouvong- (2018 PG-Louisiana Leadership) is a scoring guard who can play both guard positions. He is fundamental and understands how to manipulate the defense. He showed a good change of pace and loves to score in transition. If left open in the zone, he is going to make open shots from both long and mid range.
James Ringo-(2018 CG-Playground Elite) is one of the more explosive athletes in the tournament. He might be one of the best finishers on the fastbreak as well. He has a good body and can absorb contact when attacking the basket without getting knocked off his path. He has long arms and is a tenacious defender as well. His motor and ablity to score on all 3 levels might be his best attribute.
Timmy Benavides-(2018 PG-GATA) is a scoring point guard who can flat out shoot the rock. At one point during his bracket play game he went 4 of 4 from the three point line. He is shifty and has a good pace to his game when attacking his defender. As he gets stronger and his growth catches up with him, look for his game to go to the next level. He had 17 points in a loss today.
Anthony Calicutt-(2018 SF- West TX Force) is a monster on the boards on both ends of the floor. He is efficient when finishing at the rim with either hand. He has one of the best motors we have seen today and never gives up on a play. His tenaciousness was what got his team the win today and they advanced in the championship bracket.
Javorian Miller-(2018 SG-West TX Force) is a 6-foot combo guard who can affect the outcome of a game by just being on the floor. He single-handedly led his team to a come from behind victory today in a win or go home game by getting a rebound putback off a free throw miss down 2 with 0:27 sec left in the game to send it to overtime. He is a big time athlete and can score on all three levels whenever he chooses.
Jonathan Jackson-(2018 SF-North TX Thunder) is a manchild among boys at this age. He has a great body and is a great athlete. He's the best finisher at the rim we have seen in this tournament in the 14U division. His high motor makes him pretty much unstoppable on both the offensive and defensive boards. That is where he makes his living after getting an offensive rebound. He is the best shot blocker in the tournament. He also showed the ability to attack from the high post area off the bounce.
Rodrick Lewis- (2018 SG-Woodlands Crusher) is a big time scorer who can score the rock from anywhere on the court. He had consecutive games of 35 and 45 points in the championship bracket play. He might be the best all-around scorer in the tournament. This slasher is one of the better open floor players and knows how to finish once he gets to the rim. When the game slows down he relies on his mid-range jumper.
Quincy Minor- (2018 PG-Playground Elite) is the prototypical pass first point guard who makes all of his teammates better. If left open, he can knock down the open jumper from both long and mid-range. The one thing that stands out about his game is his swag and wiggle in his game. He plays with a great deal of confidence which comes out in his teammates on the floor. Every coach loves having a player like this on their team.
Justice Hill- (2019 PG-ABC Select) is a fundamental point guard who understands how to the play the position. He uses the dribble effectively and has great court vision which make it a joy to play along side of him. If you leave him open he can make the open shot and if you push up on him he has a great first step to get by you while creating for others.
Nathan Page- (2018 CG-ABC Select) is one of the better combo guards we saw today. He showed the ability to score on all three levels while running the team as well when his PG was out of the game. You can just tell he understands the game by the way he plays and interacts with his coach. If you leave him open he can knock down the jumper or he can create his own shot off the bounce. He loves to get out and run both offensively and defensively when they are pressing.
