Coral Springs, FL (Future150) -- Becoming a rising young star can be a daunting task, but there is one young athlete that seems be up to the challenge.
Jeffrey Prophete (Class of 2017, Coral Springs Christian Academy/ Lauderhill Lions) is doing his best to take the challenge head on.
This incoming 8th grader is a 6-foot-2 shooting guard who has impressed many people very early in his basketball career.
Shooting the ball is not an issue for Prophete; he has an excellent jump shot and can shoot the three consistently with relative ease. Driving to the basket is also another strong point of his game; he gets to the hoop with solid moves and finishes strong.
Though he has lot of tremendous skills, Prophete knows he has a weak spot in his game.
“I need to work on my passing and moving without the ball in my hand,” he explained.
In watching him play, you would think his game is very comparable to an NBA player and I personally agree with who Prophete chose to compare himself too.
“I compare myself to Kevin Durant, we have a very similar shot, “Prophete advised. “He plays the three and that’s the position that I want to play in college.”
Even though he is only in middle school, he already is drawing up some ideas on where he would like to play basketball at in college.
“I’m looking for a good program like Kentucky or Baylor,” he mentioned.
Lots of colleges will be calling for this player in the future, but there will be plenty of time for Prophete to think about his interest in colleges, when that time comes.
His goal for now is to better his overall game, improve his skills, and to continue impressing like he already has. In the mean time, watching this talented player is going to be very fun and exciting.
