Washington, DC (Future150) -- The HOT League session III took place this past weekend in Washington D.C. Featuring some of the most talented 2021 & 2022 AAU teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, the league gave us a glimpse of several prospects who will eventually be on the national radar in the coming years.
Jarace Walker Leads Talented Maryland's Finest Bunch
Maryland's Finest (MD) 7th grade group had a successful weekend at the HOT League, and they feature a slew of talented prospects. However, no prospect on the roster is more impressive than their do-everything wing Jarace Walker. A sculpted 6'2" player with size 15 feet, he projects as an elite wing in the future. However, he's also a highly productive player right now. He can score, pass, rebound & defend, and he's the glue that holds his team together.
Team Thrill 8th Grade Team Features Eye-Popping Talent
One of the hottest teams on the middle school circuit this year should be the Under Armour sponsored Team Thrill squad based out of Baltimore. Their group possesses everything you look for in an elite group, including size, length, shooting ability and lockdown defense. Led by a quartet of Ahmad Harrison, Darrius Tilghman, Malik Missouri & Detwan Montague, this group should be one of the most fun squads to track this AAU season.
Carolina Legend Group Littered With Talented Backcourt Parts
North Carolina based Carolina Legend 8th grade team came into the HOT League ready to compete, and their backcourt pieces have done the majority of the damage. Led by point guard prospects Jarius Northam, Breon Pass & Terquavion Smith, the group gives opponents headaches with they way they compliment each other with their contrasting styles of play. Throw in athletic swingman Redford Dunton, and it's easy to see why they are racking up wins in league play.
HOT League Standouts:
John Butler, 2021 Post, Team United (NC): Upside. Upside. Upside. Just looking at the 6'9" prospect made up of all arms and legs, you immediately envision a big time player down the line. Throw in the ability to already stretch the floor with three-point shooting ability and we are already salivating over the player he can become in the next two years.
Trevor Keels, 2021 SG, Team Takeover (MD): If you're looking for the next big talent to emerge from Team Takeover, starting with the 6'3" wing is the right move. A talented scorer with an impressive frame and great feel, he's not only the engine to his talented team, but he's also a young prospect for his class. Mix the two components together and you have an emerging star.
George Pettaway, 2021 PG, Boo Williams (VA): We tend to love point guard prospects who are set-up men, always looking to get their teammates great looks and picking their spots along the way. That's exactly the type of player this 5'11" floor general is. A strong prospect with excellent quickness and speed, he spent the weekend racking up assists and giving his teammates as many chances to score in good spots as he could. He also scored himself when given the chance, which we really enjoyed watching as well, as he proved capable around the rim.
