Houston, TX (Future150) -- Ricky "Doc" Nelson Jr. is a point guard who can fill up the score sheet and keep his teammates happy with his assist numbers. Ricky is an 8th grader playing in Houston, Texas for Westbury Christian Middle School. He is averaging 25 points per game to go along with eight assists.
His dad is happy with his progress this season and says his son is getting stronger and has grown a few inches over the season. “He is taller, so that is a plus and he is shooting the ball very well,” his dad told Future150.
He definitely does not lack for an outside game, averaging around five three-point field goals a contest, according to his father.
Ricky is happy with his middle school season with Westbury Christian, saying he’s had a lot of fun and won a few tournament MVP's along the way. Westbury Christian Middle school is enjoying success this season with a record of 25-5 in league and tournament play.
Not only is Ricky a great player on the court; but he is a very good student, getting A’s and B’s in the classroom. He is a true student of the game and enjoys watching his favorite player Shane Larkin lead the Miami Hurricanes to a successful season.
When asked who he compares his game to, he had this to say. “I compare my game to Chris Paul as a passer and point guard, but J.R. Smith as a scorer,” stated Ricky.
Overall both he and his dad are happy with his progress, and he looks to continue his success and continue to work on his game. His dad is also his AAU coach. Both are looking forward to working together in AAU play this summer.
