Houston, TX (Future150) -- Playing in games isn't the only thing that help players get better. Just ask 2019 PG Sahvir Wheeler, who is not playing middle school ball this season.
"Playing in games doesn't always help you get better. I've been working on perfecting my strengths and improving my weaknesses," Wheeler told Future150.
Being successful at the next level drives the 5-foot-3 point guard, and despite being small, the Houston product is determined to be great.
"My desire to be great inspires me every day. The hard work I put in, seeing and hearing about guys who have been successful, and also the players who were good but didn't make it puts a hunger in me to achieve greatness and more."
Wheeler has big plans for AAU season, especially since it has been a long time since he suited up for a real game. Like a true point guard should, Wheeler wants to help those around him.
"I want to help my teammates get the level of recognition I've been receiving. And I want to win the most important games in April and July, as well as performing at a high level," Wheeler said.
Wheeler will be with Basketball University during AAU season. He has one message for his competition.
"You don't want this issue."
