Houston, TX (Future150) -- The Future150 MDC Houston featured some of the top talent in the Southwest. The 13U division showcased good teams from Houston, Tulsa and even Austin. Austin's Finest came on top as the champions and went undefeated this weekend.
Here are the Top Performers from the 13U division.
Maddox Kopp, 2021 SG, Basketball University: Just like his older brother Miller Kopp, which is a member of the 16u BU team, he has a big frame that he uses well. Kopp showed that he can shoot ball from deep and handles the ball well in the open floor. He also showed he can score in different ways under pressure.
Elijah Lawrence, 2020 PG, Basketball University: Lawerence is a smart and skilled PG that knows how to get things done. He showed a great feel for the game and has good half court vision. His change of pace and first step enables him to break down defenders and get in the lane at will. Lawrence is a coach on the floor.
AJ Reed, 2021 SF, Tulsa Infinity: Reed is an active forward that lives at the free throw line due to his aggression. Reed's handles were special. He got several assists from driving and kicking it out to his guards for three.
Travon Davie, 2021 PG, Tulsa Infinity: Davie is a crafty guard that has a variety of euro steps to shake defenders for layups. Although handles seem slow, he doesn't get the ball stolen. Full court pressure is not a problem for Davie.
James Hester Jr., 2020 C, Austin's Finest: Hester plays with a high motor. As a rebounding post, he was a force on the boards this weekend. Finishes well inside and runs the floor great for a big man. Hester definitely knows how to use his body when finishing in the paint. Blue collar player.
John Hygh 2020 PG, Austin's Finest: Hygh loves to break his defenders down and score. The point guard employs a good set shot from three and handles heavy ball pressure well.
Phillip Jordan Moore 2020 SG Renegade Outlawz: Moore is high volume scoring guard that averaged 17 points his first two games of the tourney. He was a sniper from the 3-point line where he averaged three made per game. His attacking style draws tons of free throws. Hard-nosed player with a competitive nature.
Justin Radford 2020 PF, Renegade Outlawz: Radford is a stretch power forward featuring great touch on the perimeter. Consistent motion makes his shot reliable. He can even put the ball on the floor to create for himself.
Armel Talla 2020 SG, San Antonio Finest: Talla does a little bit of everything for his team. Was one of the lead rebounders and top scorers. Also occasionally brought the ball on the floor to run the offense. Defensively he reaches a lot but he does possess good lateral quickness.
Chris Nava 2020 PG, San Antonio's Finest: Nava was one of the smarter point guards in the 13u bracket. Penetrates the lane well and scores off the dribble with a nice runner. Nava had a solid game against the Renegades.
Shelton Celestine Jr. 2021 PF, Louisiana Rockets: Celestine is very raw offensively, but has a big time motor on both ends. One of his better attributes might be his anticipation when he is blocking shots. He loves getting offensive rebounds and starting the break. He's the type of player every coach wants to lead his team.
Jalon Hill 2021 PG, Louisiana Rockets: Hill is a solid shooter capable of scoring on all three levels. His ball handling is on point, which allows him to make his teammates better. He understands how to play without the ball. Also Hill is a solid on-ball defender.
