Houston, TX (Future150) -- The inaugural Future150 Final Four Weekend tournament kicked off this weekend, with a number of talent prospects playing their way onto the radar.
The 12U division showcased a number of players who will be certainly be ones to keep an eye on moving forward, but one team in particular dominated the weekend.
I RISE, out of the Houston area, took home the championship with a 52-30 win over the Houston Heavys. Forward Owen Pewee was by far the top player in this field. At 6-foot-2 he did a lot of things very well this weekend, and helped his team to the title. His rebounding and ability to put the ball on the floor made him very hard to guard.
There are a number of other players who stood out this weekend as well:
John Jenkins, 2022 PG, Texas Inferno: Jenkins is a high-iq guard who showed that he could stretch defenses with his shooting ability throughout the weekend. He projects as a point guard down the line, but his shooting ability is encouraging.
Derek Dang, 2022 PG, Garland Dream Team: Dang was a steady point guard who did a good job of getting to the rim and finding his teammates for open looks. He showed an advanced understanding of the game for a player his age.
Daniel Martinez, 2022 SG, Houston Heavys: Martinez was able to get into the lane and finish around defenders fairly consistently throughout the weekend. He can handle it pretty well and showed that he is a decent passer to boot.
