Emmaus, PA (Future150) -- Being a top point guard in your respected class is a very daunting task.

David Kachelries is one of the most underrated guards in the class of 2017, but is one that is trying his hardest to achieve an elite status.

He plays AAU ball for Team IZOD and competes at Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.

He stands at 5-foot-6, 110 pounds. He is small in stature, but large in talent.

He is an excellent ball handler, always finds his open teammates, and gets anywhere on the court that he wishes.  His abilities as a point guard provide him the ability to shoot a jump shot with great consistency.

Though Kachelries has many good skills, he knows the weak points of his game that he needs to work on.

“My weakness is just my strength, I need to bulk up, continuing to get stronger,” he explained. “I want to be more aggressive as well.”

His game as a small guard can be very comparable to many players, but he chose one specific NBA player to compare himself too.

“I compare myself to Steve Nash because he is a great passer and I feel that I go about the game the same way,” he suggested. “You have to get your teammates involved as well.”

Since he is only going to be an 8th grader, there is lots of time to decide on a college for his future, but it seems as though he has an early favorite.

“My dream college would have to be Lehigh because they are close to home for me, plus they have a great basketball program,” he assured.

College time will come, but for now he will continue being a kid and enjoying basketball, trying to improve every day.

Great job….you’ve been doing it since you’re 5 and I sure you’ll continue to shine the rest of your career. Keep up the good work.

Hi Dave—played golf with your grandfather John yesterday and he told me about your success on and off the court.  Work hard and good luck.  Hope to watch you at Lehigh one day.  Dr. Lou Pagano
