Paterson, NJ (Future150) -- AAU Nationals is a coming out party for a lot of kids on the national circuit. A lot can happen in a year. Kids grow, some fall off, and some keep getting better. Dejourn Cook is one of those who just keeps getting better.
Already known for his athleticism and agility, Dejourn have been working on his ball handling and shooting to become a more complete player and eventually slide over more to the wing position.
Being on the floor, at any position is a plus. Cook patterns his game after Kevin Durant. Though he may not be as skilled as the finished together product, Cook's hustle and athleticism are rare at his age.
This year for his Paterson Charter team he averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Also Cook had a game with 21 rebounds. This summer he will be back with his Metro Flyers team putting up stellar numbers.
“This summer I just want to continue improving and work on my basketball IQ,” said Cook.
Another impressive thing about Dejourn is that he’s killing it in the classroom as well, boasting an 87 average in all major subjects.
“Right now my dream school is the University of Kentucky,” said Cook.
With his length, athleticism, and proper work this may not be farfetched.
