Baltimore, MD (Future150) -- The internet buzz is starting to pick up for the class of 2020, with more and more national exposure coming for its prospects. One of those racking up accolades recently is 6'5 wing Che Evans Jr., of Baltimore's Team Melo.

Evans has burst onto the scene this summer after growing nearly 4 inches already this year. The smooth scoring wing was recently named the top prospect at the CP3 National Middle School combine following his stellar performance there. He was invited to the Middle School All-American (2020) Game on Friday night, where he took MVP honors on the night.

His coach and the program's recruiting coordinator, Dwayne Wise, says Evans is "a high-IQ player that finishes with either hand. He has a very high skill level, and we think he can be similar to (current Duke commit) Jayson Tatum." Evans is a lengthy 6'5 that is still growing, and he plays a very mature game according to his coach.

"He passes the ball so well, but his shooting is still his main weakness, but it's coming along. He just told me tonight that he hit some step-back jumpers and a few threes at the Basketball Spotlight Future Phenom Camp today. He can shoot it, he's just still getting used to his length now that he's grown so much this year."

His performance in that camp landed him the top spot in the 2020 All-Star game.

Despite being 5 years from graduating high school, Evans already has quite a few high major schools showing interest. So far, he has heard from Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Kentucky, Maryland, St. John's, UCLA, and UNLV. Coach Wise said he doesn't think it'll be long before he starts receiving offers, too.

Future150 Juniors will get an in-depth look at Evans with his Team Melo squad at the Made Hoops Winter League later this year. Evans is currently unranked in our 2020 class, but we plan to have fully updated rankings by the end of the year. As of right now, we expect it will be tough to keep Che Evans Jr. from the Top 5.
