Inglewood, CA (Future150) -- E.J. Jackson is one of the most electrifying Class of 2019 guards. He showcases his elite handles and quickness everytime he steps onto the court. The California-native stays partially in the state when it comes to finding role models for his game.
"I watch a lot of Chris Paul highlights and Aquille Carr," Jackson said. "I like how Chris Paul sets up the offense and makes smart plays and Aquille breaks down defenders and scores against bigger players."
At 5'7", Jackson is actually taller than D-League veteran Carr. Jackson understands he has to be creative to consistently score against the bigger players. One element of his game that will help with that will be his pull-up jumper.
"I need to keep working on my pull-up. It's there, but it isn't consistent as I have on and off days with it," Jackson said. "I have handles. I have a good set shot, but the pull-up would make me better."
Playing for The City Stars AAU organization ran by his uncle Jimmy Burton, Jackson enjoys seeing the program grow to where it is today.
"I played for The Rising Stars with Baron Davis, but after a couple of years it fell through," Jackson said. "My uncle made the The City Stars and at first we were unknown but now people know about us."
Having played in the AAU Nationals for three years with three runner-up finishes, Jackson hopes the summer of 2015 will be the chance The City Stars will have to get over the hump.
"My main goal for this year is for the team to win AAU Nationals. I will keep improving my game and rankings will come, but I just want to win Nationals," Jackson said. "I'm tired of second place, and hopefully this summer will be different for my team."
