Huntsville, AL (Future150) -- Due to AHSAA transfer rules, class of 2018 point guard Alondras Strong has had to sit out this basketball season at Westminster Christian Academy in Alabama.
While most kids his age would take a break from basketball, Strong has made his transition year beneficial, on and off the hardwood.
"Mainly, I've been working on trying to become a better leader on and off the court this year," Strong told JrFuture150.com.
The 5-foot-8 point guard has proved to be one of the better floor generals in the region, demonstrating strong play on the circuit, while also attending a couple of JrFuture150 camps.
Last autumn, Strong was named to the 'Top 40' game at the 2013 JrFuture150 camp hosted in Birmingham, Alabama.
Strong is wise beyond his years, as he can direct a team, and handle the ball with poise and composure. He has a great feel for the game and his overall approach is exceptional.
Nevertheless, Strong has seemingly learned even more in his time away from game action, and has shown excellent resiliency.
"This year has been more beneficial for my mental state of mind. I'm learning how to think the game more, learning my teammates tendencies, and learning what my coaches expect for me in the future," he explained.
One of the knocks on Strong early in his career has been his lack of size and strength. Yet he has worked on that, too.
"Getting in the weight-room with my strength coach has helped me. It has been a productive year so far," said Strong.
Currently a three-star prospect according to JrFuture150.com, expect Strong to find a place in the updated Class of 2018 National Rankings when they are released in March.
