Adidas Select Series Session III: New World Dominates

Washington, DC (Future150) -- The Adidas Select Series Session III had several major storylines over the weekend, but none were more prevalent than New World continuing to show their rise as a premier program.

New World Continues To Leave Footprint In Mid-Atlantic

The New World program continues to make major waves in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and this past weekend, their domination continued at the Adidas Select Series.

In the 8th grade division, their New World (Unlimited) team went 4-0 over the weekend with wins over the Motor City Bad Boys, New England Playaz, Team Loaded-Black & Virginia Elite. Also in the 8th grade division, New World-Blue went 3-1 on the weekend, with wins over the likes of HC Elite, Juice All-Stars NC & Virginia Elite. In 13U, they were crowned champions after going 5-0 on the weekend, beating the New York based Wiz Kids 51-42 in the final. 

Not only are they winning championships, but they also prove to have national-level talent at the middle school level, making them a force to be reckoned with in 2017 and beyond.

Motor City Bad Boys Make Impressive Debut

Traveling all the way from Detroit, the Motor City Bad Boys 14U team proved they are going to be a very difficult team to beat in the Midwest this AAU season. While their record may not have indicated it, they put fear into the opposition. 

Not only did they beat the New England Playaz and Virginia Elite, but their losses were just as impressive. They took Team Loaded-Black to the wire before falling 50-49. Most impressive, however, was their game against New World (Unlimited), where they lost 63-55, but led most of the game. They did all of this without a full roster, giving the program significant momentum heading into the spring.

Wiz Kids Impose Their Will With NYC Brand Of Basketball

The Wiz Kids 13U squad went 4-1 on the weekend, losing a hard-fought title game to New World, 51-42. One of the more fun teams to watch play, they have a roster of gritty guards and two impactful big men who compliment each other well. One being a power player on offense, while the other is a rim protector who runs the floor well. Look for them to give Northeast teams headaches all AAU season in 2017.

3 Standouts From Adidas Select Series:

Legend Geeter, 2021 SF, Motor City Bad Boys (MI): A recently converted post player, the 6'4" wing blends his inside skills with a burgeoning perimeter skillset. He was impressive on the glass, blocked shots all weekend long, and scored baskets on all three levels. He came to Washington D.C. as an unknown, and left as a prospect immediately thrust into the national conversation. 

Dariq Miller-Whitehead, 2022 SF, New York Jayhawks (NY): The legend of the New Jersey product continues to grow, as he's been a standout on the Adidas, Elevate & MADE circuits this winter. One of the smoothest wing prospects in his class, he's growing at a rapid rate on the court. Did we mention that he's now almost 6'3"? There's so much to like about him, we are having trouble finding faults in his game.

Julius Ellerbe, 2021 SG, New World (Unlimited): One of the most athletic prospects in the class, the 6'3" wing was highly productive this past weekend. He scored on all three levels, showed an impressive handle, and we loved his passing ability as well. He has all the tools you look for in an elite prospect, now it's matter of putting it all together.
