Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- Willie Screws is an eighth grader playing up on Barbour County's (AL) varsity. In the first three games of the year he has scored double digits in each game, and is also stuffing the stat sheet with an average of six assists per game, plus a bunch of boards, steals, and blocks.

Screws is a well-rounded player -- strong in multiple phases, especially for a middle schooler. His best offensive skill is finishing at the rim and scoring with a high level of efficiency. The eighth grader is also a committed rebounder and tough, hard-working defender. He usually checks the opponent's best perimeter player.

This past AAU season, Screws played with Coach Eric Dudley's Dream Team Express out of Montgomery, Alabama. In the LeBron James tournament against highly-ranked We All Can Go, Screws' signature high motor style was in high gear, as he delivered a double-double and six blocks. Demonstrating he plays relentlessly on both ends of the floor.

Screws played up one weekend with Atlanta Xpress in the Georgia Cup tournament, where he posted a double-double for the whole tournament. In the semifinal and final games, he led the Xpress with a double-double in both games. In the semifinal game, Screws grabbed an impressive 21 rebounds, and in the championship game topped this feat with another workmanlike performance, 23 rebounds and four blocked shots.

This Herculean effort all over the court paced his team to victory in the championship. It was a statement about the kind of competitor he is and that he plays the whole court, inside and out, in transition, and on the defensive end.
