Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- The class of 2022 is officially on the horizon, as 7th grade prospects are finishing up their middle school seasons and preparing to hit the AAU circuit. As we prepare to update our National Class of 2022 Rankings, we start by taking a look at a few storylines that caught our attention.

Emoni Bates Far & Away #1 Nationally

The rise of the talented Michigan prospect continues as we progress through 2017. Now standing 6'7" with the skills of a natural wing prospect, he's beginning to really become a national phenomenon of late. As the hype around him increases, you can expect for him to really gain a following on the AAU trail this season. With his combination of size and skills, it's going to be tough for any other prospect to surpass him at the middle school level.

Post Prospects Emerging Across The Country

Middle school rankings tend to be dominated by perimeter prospects, a trend that has been the case for as long as there have been rankings. More often than not, the majority of big men don't really start developing until around eighth and ninth grade. However, if you look close enough, you'll always have some size start to take shape at the seventh grade level. That's the case with the national class of 2022, which has six post prospects in our national top 25.

Bryce Griggs Still Controlling Top PG Spot

The 5'10" Houston native has been creating quite a stir the past few years with his play on the circuit, and he continues to improve and put up numbers. Last August, he showed out at Jr.Future150 Houston Camp, where he dazzled onlookers with his play, making the Top 20 All-Star Game with players one and two grades ahead of him. As he suits up with Nike ProSkills this spring, look for him to continue to impress with his play.

* Stay tuned to Jr.Future150, as we will release our updated National Class of 2022 Top 25 rankings on Monday, March 6th! *
