Seattle, WA (Future150) -- After a long time of declaring UCLA his leader, Zach LaVine has finally made the call. On Wednesday, the star point guard committed to Ben Howland and the UCLA Bruins.
"There is a lot of weight off my back now. The monkey is gone," LaVine laughed when asked how it felt to be committed. "It all just came down to family. It was a home-away-from-home."
While in California to compete at Pangos, the Seattle star took a trip to UCLA. After that, he knew that was where he needed to be.
"When I was on the visit, I was just watching my family enjoy themselves. Because of that, I know it is a good decision for me."
As expected, both LaVine and Howland were excited.
"He just said 'thank you.' He was very excited, and he said he had been waiting a long time for this. We are both ready just to get down and get to work," LaVine explained.
LaVine is the Bruins' first commitment for 2013, but more could follow soon.
