Dallas, TX (Future150) -- Even though YGC36 (TX) was playing an age division up, they didn't let that stop them from bringing home the 15U title. Led behind impressive performances from Dametrious Crownover and K.J. Liggins, YGC made it to the title game and defeated the Dallas Mustangs (TX) by the score of 74-59.

Future150 Dallas Battleground 15U Honor Roll:
Dametrious Crownover, 2021 PF, YGC36 (TX): If we’re talking about long-term upside, we can’t leave the 6’7” Dallas post prospect out of the conversation. Like most young bigs, he’s still developing his coordination and strength, but as the tournament went on, he became more productive in each game, showing just how good he can become down the line. Keep in mind he did this all while playing in the 15-and-under division.
Quentin Johnston, 2020 SG, Temple Flyers (TX): Even though his team flamed out early during bracket play, Johnston definitely put his name on the map this weekend as one of the most impressive 2020 prospects we've seen out of Texas so far this summer. His ridiculous athleticism as a freshman allowed him to score with ease when slashing the lane. His rebounding on both ends and on-ball defense were also highly impressive. He isn't the best shooter, but is more than capable of knocking down the jumper. He basically has the full package, and his growth and development over the next year or so will be essential in his recruitment process and seeing where he ends up after high school. With his physical tools, athleticism, and defense it would be hard to argue against Johnston as at least a low-major prospect.
Travis Massey, 2020 SF/PF, NTX Slam (TX): A highly skilled combination forward standing 6’5”+, there’s a lot to like about his game. He’s a versatile player on the floor who competes at both ends at all times, making him a reliable force in any and all situations. He’s able to score around the rim or knock down shots from the perimeter, making him a difficult matchup for defenses.
K.J. Liggins, 2021 PG, YGC36 (TX): Thanks to his tight handle, upper body strength and quickness, the 6’0” floor general did a lot of damage at Future150 Dallas Battleground Tournament. He’s most effective when he’s slashing to the rim, but he’s also a gifted passer who proved to be very unselfish on offense. On defense, he takes pride in locking up the opposition.
Damon Nicholas, 2021 SG, NTX Slam (TX): Not only did the 6’1” strong wing play up a division with his NTX Slam squad, but he shined in several games while doing so. He’s a highly skilled shooting guard who not only can score around the rim using his penetration ability, but he was able to knock down shots from the perimeter as well, whether they were on the catch or when working off-the-dribble.
Daveonte Lias, 2020 PG, Dallas Mustangs (TX): Lias is a bully guard with great speed, vision, and finishing abilites around the rim. He is built like a linebacker and used his strength to his advantage when guarded by smaller, weaker point guards. Not only was his slashing and passing on display, but he showed time and time again that if the defense gave him room beyond the three point line, he was able to knock it down. Impressive weekend for Lias, and he is definitely one that should be tracked in the 2020 class out of Dallas.
Dawaun Mims Jr., 2020 PG, A.A.B. (TX): Mims was highly impressive when it came to running the offense and finishing at tough angles around the rim. His court vision was on full display as he made some beautiful passes in both the half-court and transition setting. His speed, handles, finishing ability, and overall feel for the game makes it seem like he has a good shot at being a DII/fringe DI prospect based on his growth and continued development over the next year.
Jhi Jackson, 2020 SG, NTX Hawks (TX): Jackson was one of the better long term prospects we saw in the 15U division. At 6'3" he has great size for the two guard spot at his age and he used his size and length to his advantage against smaller guards on both ends of the floor. What stood out most was his rebounding, handles, and finishing abilities. Once he adds some more muscle to his frame and becomes a more consistent shooter, he could see himself as a low-major DI prospect.
Darius McCoy, 2020 PG, Missouri City Ballers (TX): McCoy was one of the most pleasent players to watch in the 15U division. His competitiveness and ability to knock down tough shots was one of the things that stood out to the Future150 staff. He showed the ability to knock down shots from deep, but was more efficient when slashing to the rim and taking the mid-range jumper off the bounce.
George Lino, 2020 CF, Cougar Elite (TX): At 6'3", Lino doesn't have the greatest size for either forward position but his high motor and fantastic strength allowed him to play both of those positions and excel throughout the weekend. His efforts on the glass were hard to match and his ability to stretch the defense and knock down the jumper helped out his team alot as well. Another growth spurt for Lino would be nice to see.
