Huntsville, AL (Future150) -- Brandon Woods is the poster child for the increasingly pertinent Union Chapel Christian Academy basketball team.
Union Chapel Christian Academy is a private Christian school in Huntsville, AL. The school is known for its excellence in academics and firm foundation of Christian beliefs.
In addition to producing productive Christian students, they are slowly building a basketball program with a winning tradition.
This year the school won the city championship for the middle school division and the high school varsity team followed that with a state championship.
The newcomer Woods played a major role in the success.
Breakdown
Woods is a lengthy guard who thrives in transition. He also uses his long arms to play the passing lane.
In the middle school championship game Woods ended the game with an effortless 23 points and 10 rebounds. Middle school ball for him was not really a hard task compared to his AAU challenges. He competes with team WACG.
That level of competition is what made middle school competition almost unfair. After completing the title run he was ready for the high school team.
For the high school state championship win Woods led his team in scoring with 19 points.
“I’m just ready to get back in the gym and work to get better,” said Woods.
Brandon also stated, “I really need to work on my ball handling and shot mechanics to be a more complete combo guard.”
With the natural athleticism he has, it would be scary to see all of that come together.
