Mobile, AL (Future150) -- As the AAU season starts to close and the 2028 Class in the state of Alabama heads back to school, Future150 takes a looks at all of the prospects and their growth. When you evaluate the class from top to bottom the one prospect that stands out the most and takes over the #1 spot is the Mobile, AL native CF Leartist Williams Jr. of Faith Academy and Team Grind 2028.
Williams Jr. is 6-foot-7 inches tall, 205 pounds and has a 6'10" wing span. His overall skill set allows him to play multiple positions, score both inside and out, as well as shoot the three pointer at a high clip. Rebounding, blocking shots and guarding multiple positions is what make him different when on the defensive end of the floor.
The coming out party was at the Magic City Classic in March in Birmingham where he lead his team in scoring on the weekend at 23 points and 13 rebounds per game for Team Grind 2028. This helped them go on Final Four run losing to the #1 player in country Kameron Mercer for All Ohio Red where Williams guarded him and held him to 8 points and 7 rebounds in the game.
He went on to play in the New Balance Jr. Prelude League where he averaged 20 points, 15.8 rebounts and 2.8 blocks over the 10 game regular season. Williams Jr. was named regular season league MVP and helped Team Grind 2028 to the #1 seed for the Finals going 9-1.
In his last tournament of the year at the Battleground in Atlanta, Team Grind faced the GA Stars (Jr. EYBL Champs) and Peter Julius (#4 Ranked in Country). Williams scored 31 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists head up in a close 3 point loss while holding Julius to only 8 points.
William's Jr. helped lead Team Grind to a 38-4 record prior to his leg injury in which he has missed the last 2 months. Now in rehab, he looks to be even stronger and will get back to regular activities the first week of August. As he gets stronger, quicker and more athletic the sky is the limit for this high major D1 prospect.
After a strong Spring and early Summer AAU season, Williams has received high interest from Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Samford, UAB, South Alabama, Troy, Mississippi State, Auburn just to name a few. He projects in the National Rankings as a Top 25 player in the country after his AAU performance.
