Charlotte, NC (Future150) -- Class of 2017 SG Wes Morgan of Ardrey Kell high school in Charlotte, NC has seen his recruitment pick up a quite a bit since this summer. Many of the schools showing interest in Morgan has invited him in campus for unoffical visits. This past weekend he got a chance to check out Furman and Wofford. He let me in on how the visits went.
"I really like Wofford, the coaches told me they're high on me, and love my (style) of play," Morgan said.
Not only was Wes impressed by the coaching staff he also seemed to love the campus and the future plans Wofford has for their basketball program.
"I liked the campus, and loved that they are building a brand new basketball arena that will offically be ready during my freshman year in college. I would be the first ever class to play in their new arena that will contain 3,500 seats," Morgan said.
Wes was also invited to the Terriers elite camp this summer and really showed out. One of the biggest highlights of his summer was his ridiculous shooting in the three point contest at Wofford's elite camp.
"I won their three point contest at elite camp by hitting 22 threes in just under a minute."
Morgan's deep ball accuracy and range is just one of his skills coaches can imagine utilizing in their line-up as he stands about 6'7. A player who has the height of a combo forward, but has the skill-set of a combo guard is one thing college coaches love to see. With the way basketball is continually changing due to unique players and skill-sets, Wes is in very good position to enjoy a fantastic college career at the Division one level.
"Overall Wofford is just a great school with a winning tradition."
Wes also traveled to Greenville, South Carolina to visit Furman and get a feel of what they could offer him.
“The facilities there were some of the best I have seen at a mid-major school,” Morgan said.
Like Wofford, Furman has been showing heavy interest in Wes for sometime now. Now it seems to be more of when will all these schools throw out offers, rather than if they will.
“I have a really good relationship with Coach McAuley. I’m highly considering both schools and love the prestigious academic side of both those schools as well,” Wes told me.
Furman will be in to see Morgan at Ardrey Kell on November 11th during practice, and Wes plans on taking visits to both Furman and Wofford again in the near future.
Another school that has been on Wes Morgan’s radar for a while now is James Madison. He went on campus for an unofficial visit in early September. They also haven’t extended an offer to Wes yet, but it just seems like a matter of time.
The coaching staff at James Madison really made Wes feel like he was at home when he was down on campus.
“The coaching staff let me play around with the guys (on the team) and even got to play Xbox with them. I also attended a football game and they let me come down on the field,” Morgan said.
Sounds like Wes is going to have some tough decisions to make in the future once he has plenty of offers on his list, and the time comes to trim it down and make a final decision.
“When it comes time to make my decision, I honestly don’t know how I am going to make one.”
