Concord, NC (Future150) -- The #1 freshman in the Carolinas, Wendell Moore of Cox Mill (NC) had a phenomenal freshman year and picked up a handful of offers along the way, including one local blue blood school.
"It was great to get that UNC offer," Moore said. "They're one of the best schools in the country to go to."
The UNC coaching staff is making Wendell a priority in the 2019 class, and rightfully so as he is arguably a top five prospect in the entire country.
"The coaching staff gets in touch with my coach a lot just to check up on me, and asking me to come up for a game," Moore said.
Wendell not only picked up three big offers over the course of his freshman season (Georgia, North Carolina, and Wake Forest), but he also learned some things that should help him get even more recognition during AAU season.
"The biggest thing I learned this year was that I don't need to do everything all by myself," Moore said. "I also feel like I'm starting to get more confident with my jumpshot."
The two glaring, and maybe only, weaknesses in Wendell's game have always been that he may try to do too much at times, and his lack of a consistent jump shot. The good news for him is that these weaknesses in his game are slowly turning into strengths.
If Moore can find that consistent jumper he's been looking for, he should put up some pretty gaudy numbers on the EYBL circuit this spring and summer.
Looks for Moore's name to be thrown around this summer with guys like Balsa Koprivica, R.J. Barrett, Cassius Stanley, Tyger Campbell, and Chandler Lawson when talking about the best 2019's in the nation.
