Manhattan, NY (Future150) -- The Under Armour Association's first stop of the 2017 circuit landed in Manhattan last weekend, where several prospects made waves in the 15U division. The son of a former NBA all-star made the most noise, but he was far from the only player to stand out.
Jamal Mashburn Jr., 2020 PG, Miami Vipers (FL): The 6-foot Gulliver Prep (FL) product has the bloodlines, and proved this past weekend that he's got the game to match. Not only did he average 23.5 points per game during the first session, but he showed that he could get others involved as well. He's a skilled scorer from the three-point line as well as from the mid-range, and he has excellent speed in the open floor. His father, Jamal Mashburn, played at Kentucky under Rick Pitino, and unsurprisingly, Louisville has showed some early interest.
Jaden Springer, 2020 SG, B. Maze Elite (TN): The 6'4" wing came into this AAU season as one of the most hyped freshmen nationally, and he didn't disappoint in New York. The strong scorer not only filled the scoring column, but he dominated on the glass as well. At one point during the weekend, he registered back-to-back games of 22 points & 10 rebounds and 32 points & 14 rebounds. Most importantly, he led B. Maze Elite to a 4-0 record on the weekend.
Atwood Newton, 2020 SF, Team Thrill (MD): The biggest revelation of the weekend was the arrival of the 6'8" natural wing prospect. His long-term potential is obviously the main draw, but he didn't disappoint with his game play either. He scored well on slashes to the rim and used his length to rebound well on both ends. He's a fluid and long athlete, and with the right amount of development, he will be one of the most sought-after wing prospects in the country over the next few years.
Akeem Odusipe, 2020 PF, B. Maze Elite (TN): Already sporting a scholarship offer from Auburn, the 6'9" physical specimen didn't disappoint in his Under Armour debut. He tried to put guys in the rim all weekend long, dunking absolutely everything around the rim. He also proved to be a beast on the glass and on defense as well, registering games of 10 points & 14 rebounds, as well as a game in which he corralled 17 rebounds. Look for more high-major offers to come in the next few months.
Braelon Bush, 2020 PG, Houston Defenders (TX): One of the best scorers in the division was the 5'8" Silsbee High School (TX) prospect. He has excellent speed in transition, and he can get hot from behind the arc at any moment. He's never afraid to attack the rim, playing fearlessly against big men in the paint. His stock started rising this past winter, and it's only going to continue over the spring and summer.
Ethan Kilgore, 2020 SG, KC Run GMC (MO): The 6'6" wing prospect is one of the most skilled scorers in the freshman class, and showed it over the weekend. He can get baskets on all three level, and crashed the glass well throughout the weekend. His foot speed obviously needs work, but his base set of skills make him an intriguing high-major option going forward in the Midwest region and beyond.
