Manhattan, NY (Future150) -- It was a whirlwind of a weekend in the 17U division of the Under Armour Association, with plenty of close games, and rosters filled with star power. Plenty of storylines and standouts caught our attention along the way as we look forward to an exciting season of action on the UA circuit.
Leading The Pack
After the first session of the Under Armour Association, only three teams remain with an unblemished 4-0 record. Philly Pride (PA), Team Breakdown (FL) & We R1 (PA) currently control their own destiny.
Philly Pride is doing their damage with a total team effort. Fast-rising 6'6" wing Jack Clark & guard Chris Arcidiacono are doing the most damage for a very unselfish Pride group. Team Breakdown is being led by 6'4" combo guard Elijah Weaver, who continues to make his case as an elite guard in the 2018 class. However, guard Anfernee Simons & post Emmanuel Dowuona had dazzling weekends as well. For We R1, their star backcourt trio of Eric Ayala, Isaiah Wong & Tyrese Martin made life hectic for defenses in Manhattan.
Big Men Showing Star Power On UA Circuit
Earl Watson Elite (CA) 6'9" power forward Miles Norris delivered in a big way over the weekend with his versatility. He can score on all three levels and shows a level of upside that almost no other prospects can match in the 2018 class. New Heights (NY) 7'0" big man Moses Brown continues to improve his stock. Averaging 16.0 points, 11.0 rebounds & 2.5 blocks per game, he solidified his spot as a national top 20 prospect in the rising senior class. Team Charlotte (NC) 6'8" power forward Ian Steere had the type of weekend that will bring in several high-major offers. The bouncy and active big man is now hearing from schools such as Connecticut, Kansas & Louisville after his standout weekend, and that list should continue to grow. Team Thad (TN) added Mississippi 6'9" big man Javian Fleming this offseason, and he certainly looked like an excellent addition in NYC. The throwback post has been an SEC priority for a few months now, and we wouldn't be surprised to see some national names get into the mix for his services.
#Future150Family Making Waves At UA
Atlanta Xpress (GA) 6'8" point-forward Khavon Moore continues to impress, showing why he's considered one of the most versatile prospects in America. He avearged 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals & 1.5 blocks per game. Clemson is the latest school to offer. Oklahoma Run PWP (OK) 2018 guard Keyshawn Embery had a nice weekend, and was rewarded by picking up a scholarship offer from Purdue. Houston Defenders (TX) wing Miller Kopp set the nets on fire at UA, leading the league in scoring at 21.0 points per game. After the weekend, he landed offers from Davidson, Miami (FL) & Northwestern. Louisiana Elite (LA) 6'7" wing Josh LeBlanc should see a nice bump in his recruitment after last weekend. He has the makings of an elite defender at the next level, and averaged 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds & 3.3 blocks per game.
3 More Under Armour Association Standouts:
Joey Baker, 2019 SF, Team Felton (NC): The 6'7 small forward had his full offensive arsenal on display, showing the ability to score on all three levels with ease. After his big weekend, he landed offers from Kanas and St. John's.
Jalen Suggs, 2020 PG, Grassroots Sizzle (MN): While only a freshman, the explosive 6'3" combo guard had no trouble putting up numbers, averaging 19.3 points per game. Since the weekend ended, he has heard from schools such as Florida, Georgetown, Louisville, UCLA & Virginia.
Caleb McConnell, 2018 G, C2K Elite (OH): Maybe the biggest surprise of the weekend, the 6'5" combo guard was very impressive all weekend long. He can score or facilitate, and loves to attack the rim. He is very good at picking apart defenses by taking advantage of mismatches, and has picked up new offers from Buffalo, Rhode Island & UMass.
