Edison, NJ (Future150) -- The class of 2016 is already looking like it will be one of the top ones we have seen in a few years. With players with Thon Maker, Josh Jackson, and Harry Giles at the top, there is some serious buzz. That being said, it is an incredibly deep class.
One of the top guards in the class is Gill St. Bernard's (NJ) guard Tyus Battle. While he has a reputation as a big time scorer, and for good reason, he also has shown the ability to be the primary ball handler.
This season he may have to do just that. Jaren Sina is at Seton Hall. Battle will be counted on to do a lot for a team who lost two very important pieces. Having one of the top players in the country will help to keep the Knights competitive in their league, but playing schools in the Tournament of Champions will prove to be a tough test.
His upside is undeniable. He is quick, can score it from all three levels, and has great size. Battle also plays with the poise of a player much older than he is.
Being a complete player at such a young age has peaked plenty of schools' interest. Battle claims offers from UNLV, Vanderbilt, Xavier, Washington, Ohio State, Miami (FL), Providence, Syracuse, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Rhode Island, SMU, Villanova, Indiana, Cincinnati, Connecticut, and Virginia.
While it should be awhile before any sort of decision would be made recruiting-wise, it will be interesting to see how he develops in the coming years. Look for him to lead Gill St. Bernard's before hopping back on the AAU circuit with Team Final.
