Pottsville, PA (Future150) -- Each year, thanks to our Future150 camp and tournament series, we discover a plethora of rising stars at the middle school level. The 2016 circuit was no different, as Kelly Mill Middle School (SC) point guard Tyler Rice made his case as one of the premier floor generals in the country in the 2021 class.

Right now, the 5'10", 160-pound point man is flying a bit under-the-radar due to the fact that he plays for his father's Central Carolina Force AAU team, but don't get it twisted. The Force are a very talented bunch, and he could easily play for a shoe circuit team if he went that route.

"There's no better competition than my teammates DaVeon Thomas, Josh Hall & Adonis Davis. We have some fierce battles every day at practice, and I'm very lucky to have them on my team," he told Future150 in reference to his AAU squad.

Headed to Ridge View High School (SC) next year, he should see his stock steadily rise throughout the spring and summer before he hits the high school hardwood. As far as his middle school season goes, he's off to a solid start, averaging 17.8 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals per game.

"I try to fill whatever roles are necessary for my team to win. Whether that is scoring, passing, rebounding or being a defensive threat, I'm going to do it," he went on to say.

A hard worker and a student of the game, he emulates the game play of South Carolina high school legend and current North Carolina Tar Heel guard Seventh Woods, and is always looking to improve his overall game.

Division one colleges are beginning to take notice, as Georgia Southern has already started inquiring about him.

The younger brother of Kaiden Rice, a 6'6" wing with division one offers and interest, if Tyler hits a growth spurt and gets to 6'2"+, it's going to make him that much more of a dangerous prospect going forward.

Regardless of his size, it won't stop him or his progress.

"I'm going to consistently show everyone watching or playing against me that I'm always improving and working to be number one."
