Milwaukee, WI (Future150) -- Since committing to Wisconsin in September of last year, it was an afterthought that Tyler Herro would be signing with the Badgers when the early signing period came this fall.
Well, on October 17th, he decommitted from his home state school, opening the doors for high-major schools from across the country.
On Tuesday afternoon at Whitnall High School (WI), the 6'5" shooting guard chose Kentucky over Butler, Kansas, Oregon & Villanova. After a huge summer on the AAU trail with Wisconsin Playground Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit, where he averaged 14.8 points, 5.9 rebounds & 3.1 assists, his decommitment from Wisconsin took the second phase of his recruitment to the highest level.
A deadly three-point shooter on the perimeter, his presence at Kentucky will give the Wildcats an immediate shooter to compliment the other pieces on John Calipari's roster next season.
However, don't just think that he's a one-dimensional player. He's more than capable of handling the ball as a primary point guard, as well as being a fantastic mid-range shooter who works well off-the-dribble. A four-star prospect by Future150 analysts, expect him to land safely in the top 40 prospects nationally when we release our updated rankings.
