La Porte, IN (Future150) -- The UCLA Bruins have solidified their spot as a top five class in the 2018 cycle with the addition of La Lumiere (IN) point guard Tyger Campbell. Joining Jules Bernard, Moses Brown, Kenneth Nwuba & David Singleton, he's going to bring fantastic passing skills to the program, which will make him instantly valuable to his future team.
Since evaluating Campbell at the 7th grade level when he was the #1 player in America and showing out with We All Can Go (TN), he has stayed on the national radar while playing with several notable programs over the years. A physical guard with a high basketball IQ, the bigger the stage, the better he seems to perform.
The former DePaul commit and four-star prospect picked the Bruins over the Blue Demons, dealing a crushing blow to the Chicago program that seemed to still have a serious pulse in his recruitment recently with talk of a possible re-commitment. If that happened, he immediately would have become the face of the program going forward. Instead, he's headed to Westwood, where he'll team with Jaylen Hands in the backcourt, which will be quite fun to watch in Pac-12 action next year.
