Lewisville, NC (Future150) -- Class of 2018 CG Tripp Greene of Forsyth Country Day School may not look like a high level prospect at first glance, standing at just around 6-foot-1. Once the ball starts bouncing and the clock starts moving, he will make sure that you are impressed with his game and effort.
Greene is a lightning-quick guard with good scoring instincts at all three levels. He also excels on the defensive end with his quick feet. He stays in front of his man, and annoys him with his smothering on-ball pressure.
"I try to model my game as a blend between J.J. Redick and Steph Curry," Greene said.
That is pretty big-time talent to try and model your game after. Obviously Tripp isn't there yet, but his workhorse attitude could very well get him to that level of a high-major prospect. Greene does not hold any offers yet, but schools are certainly starting to notice the sophomore.
"I have been gaining interest from Virginia, East Carolina, Old Dominion, Appalachian State, Furman, Davidson, American, UNC-Asheville, and UNC-Charlotte," Greene said. "I do have plans to make unofficial visits to East Carolina, and Old Dominion in January."
For now Greene is looking forward to a fresh season of high school basketball, and he already has set some goals he would like to accomplish as a player.
"I want to become a true leader on my team, and set a high standard for my teammates," Greene said. "My (ultimate) goal is for my team to make a good run in the state playoffs, and for me to be named to the All-Conference team."
Greene is certainly becoming the young leader of his team early on in the season. He won MVP of the game award after both of his team's games at Phenom National Showcase. His second game was an example of how mature he is for his age. After struggling for most of the game he hit four long balls in the fourth quarter, including the game winning shot at the buzzer.
Look out for Greene and Forsyth Country Day School as they should make plenty of noise in the NCISAA 3A Piedmont League. As for Tripp himself, don't expect his offer list to stay at zero schools for much longer.
Continue to follow along with Future150 as we continue to track Greene and his recruitment process.
