Orlando, FL (Future150) -- The Triple Threat Basketball program based out of central Florida is fast becoming one of the best producers of young talent in the entire state, thanks to coach Anthony Ricks.
"I established our program because I wanted to give at-risk youth an opportunity to use basketball as a vehicle to accomplish their dreams and goals. Most of our kids had previous success on the local level, but our goal is to give our kids the opportunity to receive national recognition and display the depth of talent in the city of Orlando and the state of Florida," he told Future150 recently.
The program has been able to attact several talented young prospects recently from the Orlando, Tampa, and South Florida regions, and a lot of that has to do with the mission of the program.
"The mission of "Triple Threat Basketball" is to provide at-risk youth an opportunity to make a difference in life by using their desire to succeed in basketball as an avenue to obtain a college degree, therefore, becoming productive citizens. Our caring, disciplined approach promotes an environment that instills confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills," he said.
Between the three teams in the program (14U Select, 14U Elite, and 15U Elite), they will be playing a ton of competitive, exposure based basketball in July.
"Our goal in July is to use the live period to show that we have some of the top talent in the state of Florida and the nation. Our 8th grade will participate in AAU nationals from July 11-17. Then our 8th and 9th grade will participate in the AAU Super Showcase from July 16-20, and we will finish the month of July at Power 24 in Atlanta from July 26-28," coach Ricks said.
Some Triple Threat names to remember not only this July but going forward include Malik William, Calvin Ashley, Chaundee Brown, Jalen Glasford, Aikeem Sims, Donnell Huey, and Elijah Jordan.
Look for Triple Threat to become one of the powerhouse programs in the state for years to come.
